Portable eBay in every eBayer... the Pinoy Way

ebay Philippines, relatively a fresh initiate to the eBay family is now growing in leaps and bounds. In a country where only the elite have laptops, broadband, credit cards... not everyone has the privilege to utilize the full potential of eBay.

This Lens brings forth a new eBay strategy and several eBay tactics that will help under equipped Pinoy eBayers maximize their eBay experience. The Portable eBay Office and the Portable eBay Turbo Lister are just some of the many tools that will help anybody learn to sell on eBay.

Because to a Pinoy... eBay is when education is but a conditioning of the mind to a society or a way of life. - eBay the Pinoy way

"Portable eBay Office... it's eBay on the move... anywhere... anytime... any place..."

Portable eBay Turbolister in Amorsiko.com

... it's eBay on the move...

O
ne of the most pressing problems of Pinoy eBayers is the availability of a fast internet connection and computer access. Majority can only get into eBay by going visiting internet cafes. For this group of eBayers, mostly college students and office workers, eBay mobility is a big issue.

A way had to be found for a simple Pinoy to prepare his listings... save it... and upload it once online access is possible.

eBay's Turbo Lister allows an eBayer to synchronize his PC with his profile and perform eBay tasks. If only the power of this Turbo Lister can be squeezed into a USB Drive... something that has all the features of the Turbo Lister you have come to love. Something absolutely free...

Then all an eBayer would do is create and prepare everything at home... rush to an internet cafe... fire up Turbo Lister... connect to eBay... then upload everything. Cool right...

Well it actually exists... and its available only at eBay the Pinoy way.

Portable eBay Office : Splash Screen of the Day!!!

Introducing the Portable eBay Office

A complete eBay toolbox that fits in your pocket...

Once I was asked by a college student if it was possible to engage in online business using eBay without the internet and a computer (was not an eBay specialist yet). People generally think that selling in eBay involves sitting on a coffee shop sipping outrageously expensive coffee and banging at your poor notebook. Not so, I told her. I told her the story of someone I know who started selling on eBay on internet cafe's. This guy bought his own personal computer through his profits in eBay. That guy was me. :-)

We talked about the software to use and the issue that not all internet cafes have that same software installed. Summing it all up it would be really helpful for people aspiring to be eBayers who are in a situation like hers. So this idea of a Portable eBay Office was born. The year was 2005 then.

The Portable eBay office contains a plethora of utilities from image processing, word processing, wysiwyg html design, organizer, internet messengers (YM, skype, msn...), mpc-to-mobile phone messengers, email client, accounting... and a lot more. It now comes with the eBay Portable Turbo Lister. It also contains a compiled version of the eBay.PH online help system.

Offline eBay.PH Help system

The entire eBay.ph help system available for offline browsing

One of the foundation of an accomplished eBay buyer or seller is an in depth knowledge of the rules and policies eBay expects each one to do. Sellers should know that they can't just sell anything in eBay. Buyers should know that once they have won a bid they are bound by a contract to pay for the item under conditions set by the seller. Things like that.

"So what if you have the entire eBay help system stored in your USB like a pdf or an eBook? That would be really cool! Right?"

Believe it or not... you can have this eBay.ph online help system at www.amorsiko.com. Just download it... unzip... click on the index.html file... and you have an almost complete eBay help guide.

Although its for the Philippine eBay scene virtually all of the things there are applicable to many eBay site. Please feel free to browse Amorsiko.com and a click on the blue links ;-) Hehehehehe!!! If you know what I mean

Honestly... it is indeed a very helpful tool for all eBayers.

eBay.ph NEGATIVE FEEDBACK System

Who says you can't leave a negative feedback in eBay...

When eBay decided to revise the eBay Feedback system, I was.... really (*collapses). I thought that... (*collapses again). It was really unfair. Sure it probably did increase buyer activity but how about the small time sellers? It kind of reminds me the blunder Coke (yep the soft drink company) did when it drastically modified its flavor because of Pepsi.

Anyway, there is still a way to leave negative feedback to deserving buyers. It's a free service offered in www.amorsiko.com. Sellers can use it as an early buyer warning device.

For now it is only limited to the eBay.ph market place. Amorsiko.com is thinking of including the Singapore , Malaysia and US sites.

Got a really nasty buyer? Do you want to warn other sellers? Head on to eBay the Pinoy way and award that golden negative feedback to the deserving buyer.

Breaking up the Portable eBay Office

Yep yep yep we heard you!!!

Silly me. Of all the things to assume... I thought that everything would be an easy download. Even on an internet cafe on broadband it would take the better part of an hour to download the entire eBay Office package. It sure gives a whole new meaning to "assume". Never assume because "u" make an "ass" out of "u" and "me".

The components of the Portable eBay Office are now available for download in eBay the Pinoy way. You can choose only the components you want for your usb. Just download the component and unzip the entire folder to your usb and it's ready to go. Just like an old fashioned lego toy...

I hope this resolves most of the download issues you have encountered.

One thing more... if you have any suggestion of a component or program that could help an eBayer... let us know with a message here or at Amorsiko.com

eBay and the Portable Google Chrome

... sure its the fastest...

But does it respect your rights? Honestly, I'm really amazed at the performance of this brand new browser. When used with eBay, it loaded auction listings rapidly. Some listings though did exhibit distorted layouts and wrong font sizes.

But the main concern here is the fine print of the browsers terms of agreement. In my opinion, it's Google's way of hijacking you intellectual property rights with or without your permission.

"By submitting, posting or displaying the content you give Google a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free, and non-exclusive license to reproduce, adapt, modify, translate, publish, publicly perform, publicly display and distribute any content which you submit, post or display on or through, the services. This license is for the sole purpose of enabling Google to display, distribute and promote the services and may be revoked for certain services as defined in the additional terms of those services."

Now see what you can make of that.

Anyway a Portable version of the browser is now available at eBay the Pinoy Way

Battle of the Giants!!!

eBay vs. Amazon

I am currently a fan of eBay. However, I am slowly learning to like Amazon. So here we are... a battle of the giants. Defend you champ. In the war between eBay and Amazon this battle... right here on this page could be the turning point. Remember the Butterfly Effect.

Which is better: eBay or Amazon?

eBay

Angelina_Howard says:

I would have to say eBay. My husband and I purchased our rings from a titanium dealer at a fraction of what retail stores were charging. Gotta love eBay!

Treasures-By-Brenda says:

As an eBay Power Seller in Canada who sells on eBay.com, I have only investigated Amazon minimally.

I do sell lots of books but I find that Amazon's shipping rebate is woefully inadequate (it costs a lot more to mail books in Canada than in the U.S.) and Amazon's selling fee is high.

I also think that buying a book on eBay is a bit more straightforward. You have the opportunity to see the book you are buying. I haven't purchased any books 'sight unseen' on Amazon but I have from Abe Books and you just never know what you are going to receive if you cannot see a picture...descriptions of items are minimal and photos usually absent. From that perspective, I prefer eBay.

Brenda

stoetzels says:

I rather prefer ebay!!! Because EBay sellers are much more sophisticated now and with better selling policies.

Amazon

livingsun says:

eBay traffic has been suffering much as of late. At least this is the general conclusion that I make from the eBay/Microsoft cash back promos, with subsidized rebates as high as 30%. I don't think they offer the same general trustworthy feeling to the average internet shopper that Amazon does. In tough economic times, I see eBay getting flooded with more and more garage sale type items which will cause over-saturation and devaluation in the marketplace.

Evelyn_Saenz says:

Amazon is much easier to deal with. If I want second hand, I go to a yard sale.

ElizabethJeanAllen says:

I love to read so its Amazon for me.

Crystal_Booth says:

I have to say Amazon, but I haven't used ebay much at all.

HarryCutter says:

Have you heard of eBay's newest site? World of Good. Seems to me like they're copying Amazon while and at the same time trying to remove the stigma of eBay?
