Living in Arkansas, I always do a double take when I see the name Port Aransas. Nice to know for sure how it's pronounced. I've never been there, but I love the webcam pictures. We used to live in Virginia Beach and I still miss the beach, so I really enjoyed this lens.

To QB7: No you don't have to take a ferry to get to Port A! If you are on the north side, the ferry is convenient out of Aransas Pass. However, if you come from the south or want to not take the ferry go to SPID (South Padre Island Drive) on south side of Corpus and take a wonderful causeway (They've raised and widened it in the last 5 years.) to Mustang Island. You take a left on the island and have a very flat drive for 20 miles or so to Port A.

I've vacationed in Port A for over 30 years; even lived there for a year and taught in Corpus. Will retire from teaching in Dallas ISD May 2010 and intend to live in Port A forever! I'm a beach bum at heart! The locals are wonderful! Oh, and let's not forget the wonderful restaurants, local drinking dives, and wonderful music especially at holidays! The fresh fish from the ocean is everywhere. A grill is a must! See y'all there! If anyone wants to contact me, I'm at portaransas2010@yahoo.com.

    This website is the best!!!

This lens makes me homesick! My daughter lives in Port Aransas and my son-in-law works for Deep Sea! I have visited the island, and will someday live there when my caregiving duties in Michigan are over. You have a very detailed and complete lens here. What a great job.
