Portrait Photography

Roo du'Jardin hasn't photographed people prior to his current project, usually preferring to deal with such subjects as trees and rocks.

Roo considers himself a nature photographer, snapping away at flowers, trees and landscapes.

Here he concedes to just exploring another aspect of nature, one he has ignored since using a camera.
An impulse started him photographing his friends, and thousands of frames later, he believes there's still more to be discovered.

He seeks to capture what people do best - being themselves. Finding form and grace in simple actions, such as walking down stairs, stepping into a shower or just hanging round the back yard or lounge room.

Roo has not pre-conceived any of the photos in this series, but found them when observing his friends. Always ready with camera, searching for that different perspective and emotion.

Of course, he says, he goes out with the intention to find something new and interesting. The place, person and clothing may be chosen or known, but the final image is a mystery until discovered in the view-finder.

Roo always tries to achieve the final image in the camera as he hates spending un-necessary time in a dark room. All photos are printed full frame with no cropping.

He uses Nikon equipment preferring the convenience and speed of 35mm for this type of photography.
