How to buy and sell postage stamps on eBay or other sources

Buying and selling postage stamps can be profitable. This is an opportunity for stamps collectors to improve their collections by finding those rere items that are hard to find at a local stamp store, and expensive from a catalog.

Buying face postage in bulk on the internet can decrease the cost of mailing and make your mailings more interesting. Bulk face postage lots usually sell for about 85% of face value. Face postage without glue on the back may sell for half of face value, but you do have to glue the stamps yourself, but glue sticks make it easy.

Buying postage stamps on the internet

Buying anything on the internet is a frightening idea to may people, but it can be relatively safe and profitable. Just be careful and use your common sense. If something is too good to be true, it probably isn't good. Beware and careful of those items. It is a buyer and seller beware market. Unfortunately there are people out there that would take advantage of you if they can.

The major sources of items for sale by individuals like eBay will have some safeguards in place, but they cannot guarantee the transaction as they are just getting buyers and sellers together. Ebay has a feedback system and buyers give sellers feedback and sellers give buyers feedback. Bad feedbacks hurt a seller, so the reliable ones will go out of their way to make the buyer happy. This feedback is available to all to see, so check it out before you buy an item or put in a bid on an auction item. The old adage of "You cannot please all of the people all of the time" also fits in here, so that a seller who does not have a perfect 100% satisfaction rating, is probably still okay. However make sure that the percentage is in the high 90s, hopefully about 98 or 99%. If someone is below 90% that means that 9 out of 10 buyers were unhappy. Definitely stay away from someone who has only sold 10 items and half of them were displeased with the transaction.

Another security idea is to use a credit card to pay for your purchase. This gives you a layer of protection, as you can go to your credit card company and deny the charge if you do not receive your merchandise. Some people feel uncomfortable about using their credit card numbers on the internet, but it is safer than using it at a store, or even worse at a restaurant where the waiter carries your card away from the table for 3 to 5 minutes. It is not as easy to intercept a credit card number on the internet as people think. Most of the credit card fraud that occurs on the internet is done by hackers who break into the banks files and steal thousands of card numbers at time. Most credit card fraud is done with credit cards that are actually stolen from the owner.

Making purchase over the internet is good way to increase the number of items that are available to you and from all over the world. So why not broaden your horizons and give it a try.
