Postal Office Holiday Closures 2011
In the US, the Postal Office, FedEx, and DHL observe certain holidays, such as Thanksgiving and Christmas. Mail and packages will not be delivered on these holidays. When the holiday falls on a Saturday, the Postal Office observes the holiday on Friday, the day before the holiday. When the holiday falls on a Sunday, the Postal Office observes the holiday on Monday, the day after the holiday. Here is a list of the holidays observed by the US Postal Office, FedEx, and DHL.

Since both Christmas Day and New Year's Day fall on Sunday in 2011, these holidays are observed on Monday, the day after the holiday.

- There is another kind of closure too ... they're talking about shutting down the distribution center here in my town and then all the mail would come form one state over and take several extra days for delivery!
