Drink Green Tea!

Green TeaIf you ever wondered how Asian women keep their slim and youthful bodies - think about all the tea they drink! Green Tea has been proven to be the best of all the teas. Here are just a few reasons it ranks as #1 on my "secret tips" list:

1. It boosts metabolism and burns the stubborn fat that is stored deep in your belly.

2. It's low in caffeine and high in antioxidants.

3. It's a great energy enhancer - sort of a natural "energy drink" - which means you'll feel like moving around more - which will burn more fat! A cup in the morning and again in the afternoon should do the trick. If you need it sweetened up a bit - just add a little honey (low in calories).

4. It's actually good for you - so use it during workouts or as a substitute for soda or tea. If you need something to help you get through your workout, dilute it with water and sip it during your workouts. Or you could carry it around in a water bottle and sip it throughout your day! Either way - this is a great way to keep up your energy and burn more mush!

5. It decreases your appetite - which means less snacking. Drink a cup between meals or when you feel the urge to snack.

Postpartum Belly Secret Tip #2 - Workout in Only 60 Minutes A WEEK

Yes - per WEEK - NOT PER DAY!

MomYou don't need to do long workouts - if you do the right type of workout your body continues to burn fat long after you are finished. The trick is what you do during your workout and how you do it! The most effective workouts are "short burst cardio" type workouts (also called "interval training"). You can do this type of workout in only 10 MINUTES! This means your workout would take less time than running a quick errand - or the time it takes your kid to take a nap (this makes it soooo convenient for new moms!)

The key is to make your workout INTENSE and alternate high intensity with low intensity. A good example is if you were on a treadmill - you would walk for a minute, then run for a minute. However, you don't need a treadmill, or any other type of equipment - just your own body will do.

Postpartum Belly Secret Tip #3 - Protein Drinks and Bars

Burn More Belly Mush With Protein!

zone protein barsProtein is a must when it comes to burning the mush. Ask any skinny mom or someone who is serious about exercise or bodybuilding - and they will tell you that protein is the key to getting rid of the goo and building beautiful muscle. The reason protein is so important and why it works is that it takes your own body's energy to breakdown the protein you eat - for example, if you eat something that has 80 calories of protein, your body burns almost half of that just to break it down during digestion. Meaning you burn fat just by eating!

This is where protein bars and drinks come in - they are the easiest way to get a high level protein into your body quickly and easily. Here are a few other reasons to include protein bars and drinks in your "secret weapon" tool kit:

1. They are portable. You can easily carry a bar in your bag, or a scoop of protein in a plastic baggy (ready for you to add cold water when you need it!) This means you always have a handy snack to ward off hunger cravings!

2. Protein drinks are filling - if you prepare them correctly. The key is to add 1/2 a cup of your favorite fruit. For example, my favorite protein is EAS Vanilla Soy Protein (you can find it for around $9 at WalMart and if you drink one a day, it should last 2 weeks). I mix one scoop with 1/2 cup of water and 1/2 cup of milk (if you don't like milk - just use all water), some crushed ice, and 1/2 cup of my favorite fruit (blueberries, peaches, strawberries, whatever!) The more crushed ice you add, the thicker it makes your protein shake. Yum! This is great when you are craving a dessert!

3. Protein Bars make a great substitute when you are craving cookies or some other pastry. I suggest Zone Perfect Bars. They come in a variety of flavors like Biscotti, Chocolate Almond, Peanut Butter, and more (my favorite is Dark Chocolate Mocha!) And they the taste is so much better than traditional protein bars. Whenever I'm craving a candy bar - I grab my Zone Bar and a cup of green tea - and I'm good until my next meal. All this yummyness while burning fat! Could it get any better?

The important thing to remember here is that you don't have to starve yourself - you just have to eat right! Meaning mix your protein with your GOOD carbs (fruit and veges). Now don't eat more than one serving! One serving will get you thru until your next time to eat. If you eat 5 - 6 times a day (3 regular meals and 2 or 3 snacks) - and everytime you eat you include a protein, you are well on your way to busting that belly fat!

This "secret tip" keeps you away from crappy foods, and on the right track to getting rid of that pregnant belly.
