Six months pass...a lifetime ahead.
It is just six months since I began using Squidoo as a method of communicating to the world the need for the reform of Volunteer Fire Departments. As a recap, VFD's are fire departments comprised on uncompensated individuals that perform the same duties and functions of the paid / career fire departments. So, what is the problem? Volunteer firefighters are men and women who love what they do, yet the truth remains that these first responders are part of a world wide phenomenon of grossly underfunded public services. Trust me, your life depends on getting the information about your fire department and ascertaining that they are well taken care of. It's your responsibility...it's my responsibility. Nobody gets to shirk this one of on someone else; the moment we do, we're all in trouble.
