Making Pots De Creme Pudding

A classic chocolate dessert

1 6-ounce package semisweet chocolate pieces
1 1/4 cups light cream
2 egg yolks
Dash salt

In heavy saucepan combine chocolate pieces and light cream. Stir over low heat till blended and satin-smooth. Mixture should be slightly thick but not boiling. Beat egg yolks and salt till airy and thick.

Gradually stir in hot chocolate mixture. Spoon into 6 or 7 pot de crème cups or small sherbets.

Cover; chill till of pudding consistency, about 3 hours.

Pots De Creme Pudding

This creamy dessert in a jiffy by using a combination of convenience products.

2 1/4 cups milk
1 4-ounce package regular chocolate pudding mix
1 6-ounce package semisweet chocolate pieces (I cup)
1 teaspoon vanilla
Whipped cream dessert topping

Using the 2 1/4 cups milk, prepare pudding mix according to package directions. While pudding is hot, add semisweet chocolate pieces. Stir till melted; cool. Add vanilla and beat till smooth.

Spoon into pot de creme cups and chill. Before serving, garnish with swirl of pressurized dessert topping.

Makes 6 servings.
