What Is Pottermore?
J.K. Rowling told the world what Pottermore is on June 23, 2011.
Pottermore will also become the first source for Harry Potter digital audio and ebooks.
The London Telegraph says that Pottermore "represents a significant landmark for digital publishing." This is the first time an author has taken her books and worked for a year to create an online experience that will use the best of what the web has to offer and that will not be simply her manuscript available on line.

When you enter the world of Pottermore you choose a username and enter the world of Harry Potter. My understanding is that as you read the books, you will encounter features like a digital sorting hat and a wand chooser. However, the information about exactly how Pottermore works is not generally known, yet.

When Will Pottermore Be Released?
Unfortunately, there is no release date yet for Pottermore.
J.K. Rowling says, in her video shown here, that Pottermore will arrive in October but she does not give an exact date. She also hints at a giveaway of some sort in which some individuals will be able to visit Pottermore before October.
