1. Recognize When Your Toddler is Ready. Some signs of readiness are;
Expresses an interest in the potty

Express the need to go potty (verbally or through body language)
Able to dress and undress

2. Introducing the Idea of Potty Training. One of the best ways to introduce the idea of potty training is with a book or DVD. Reading a bedtime story is a great way to get started with this. 3.Transitioning to The Potty. Once your child is getting used to sitting and imitating family members, start actually using it. 4. Use the Potty Alone. Once your child is getting accustomed to the idea of using the toilet, let them try it alone. 5. Use the Potty Away From Home. Don't be afraid or intimidated by the idea of trying to use the potty when out in public. To avoid accidents make sure your ask your child if you see the signs "of the need to go" and then head to the bathroom. Once your child sees that public toilets are not scary, they will gradually get used to the idea, and this will help reinforce good habits and behavior.
