Potty Training Girls - Tip #1

Start in the Early Morning

potty training girlsYou want to start almost first thing in the morning when potty training girls. It seems that in the early morning while they are still a little groggy from just waking up they are less reluctant to sit on the potty. If mom happens to be the one doing the training then it is easier for mom to show the daughter how we do this every morning.

Girls seem to be more willing to follow instructions in the morning, before they get fully awake and full of energy. So when you wake up or get woke up by your daughter and head for the bathroom, be sure to take your little princess with you so she can join you or go right after you do.

Potty Training Girls - Tip # 2

Give Lots of Praise

It's important to remember when potty training girls to give lots of praise. Even if she didn't use the potty but sat on it, or even approached it without a fight, or at least not much of a fight. The more you encourage her, especially on the small steps, the more willing she will be to complete the bigger steps for you.

Praise comes in all kinds of forms. It could be a hug and a kiss, a high five, a "good job, I am so proud of you", or just about anything. That is the great thing about kids, is they are easy to please, and it doesn't take much effort to praise them and make them feel special.

Potty Training Girls - Tip # 3

Use the Potty Frequently

When you first start potty training girls you will want to make frequent trips to the potty. This will change over time and you will start noticing when she needs to go. But always start out by going to the potty at least once an hour. That way she will get used to going and she will start to recognize the feeling she gets before she has to go.

You will start noticing that once you take her to potty once an hour, she will start giving you signs as to if she needs to go or not. After about a day of going once an hour, she will be able to tell you before you take her whether or not she needs to go, which is a huge step in the process.
