How to Potty Train Girls easily

Your little girl will let you know when it's time to begin potty training her. It's totally her call and you should not make the mistake of rushing her into it. Once you see that your child can exercise some bladder and bowel control and is in a position to follow instructions then know that its time to begin potty training your baby girl.

This may happen when the girl is around eighteen months of age. Research shows that girls are not only ready earlier for toilet training as compared to boys they are also easier to train. If you chart out a systematic training program and institute it you will see results in six months.

It does not have to be anything different from what you'd do to train a boy except for a few minor adjustments. The important aspects to be taken care of include your ability to recognize the baby's cues that it has to go to the toilet; this will help reinforce a relationship between the potty and bowel cleaning. You're in luck if the child already has a routine, if not work toward building a potty use routine for the child.

You may wish to pick up pointers from online parenting forums or maybe purchase a toilet training DVD; because there are no hard and fast rules and only guidelines that you can adapt to your situation. For example, if the child responds better to the toilet training with some toys around it then by all means have a ducky in the tub; conversely, your baby girl may have to be kept clear of all distractions when using the potty.

So what does your little girl has to do to become fully potty-trained? She has to inform you or you notice that she has to go; then take her to the toilet; get her out of her pants; make her use the potty; clean her; help her get back into her clothes; and out of the bathroom.

With time and training, your girl child will be able to execute these steps more and more independently and will reach a stage where she can use the potty with minimal help from you. You can consider your work done at that stage.

Keep in mind that your girl forms a habit of sitting upright on the potty from the beginning. It is preferable that you get a potty with a lid so that the child can learn to use it after raising the lid and pulling down the seat. Girls are susceptible to infection in the urinary tract and therefore hygiene is of utmost importance. Keep the above mentioned points in mind and there is no reason why your baby girl won't be free of her diaper dependence by the time she is ready for pre-school.

I disagree. Potty training is NOT the call of the child. It is the call of the parent and should be started as soon as the child can walk if not sooner.
