Potty training for puppy dogs can be easy if you know how! I can still remember the excitement when puppy came home! We have been waiting and preparing for it for a long time. What we did not prepare will enough for was, Potty Training For Puppy Dogs!

We simply assumed taking puppy out to potty every few hours will do the trick. Boy, were we mistaken! There was way more involved. We really did not take into account that puppy is really only a "baby!" In our ignorance we expected more from him than we would have expected from a baby.

Fortunately we go help fast. In no time we knew exactly what to do and puppy and us were fine.

Unfortunately as I have already said, potty training for puppy dogs does not come as instinctive to us as we would like. We are human and puppy is a dog. This makes for many problems with communication.

Here Are A Few Things To Keep In Mind When Potty Training Puppy Dog 

* When potty training puppy dog, always use a pleasant tone of voice. Speak nicely to puppy or you will scare him and make things worse.
* Never resort to physical punishment, puppy cannot understand it, here is one of the biggest places where the communication goes wrong!
* Get to know your puppy and what you can realistically expect from him, so do your homework!
* Things to keep in mind are: puppy's age, his breed, his gender and previous training

Potty Training For Puppy Dogs - Getting The Right Equipment 

There is no denying it, getting the right equipment to help you with potty training for puppy dogs, can make things a whole lot easier. It is not essential, but it makes it easier and speeds up the process.

I have to caution here though, equipment can be abused. For instance, you cannot leave a puppy in a crate for hours on end, it is cruel! Always make sure you are not being cruel in your handling and training of puppy. Sometimes I wonder about the human race and what they are capable of!

Always make sure you are not hurting puppy physically or emotionally!

Here is a list of equipment that can very successfully be used in potty training for puppy dog: 

Not everything in this list is needed for all puppies as some are very specific for specific problems. The list here is only to give you an idea of the equipment available as an aid for potty training your puppy dog.

1. The most important is a crate. Unfortunately it is also often the most abused!
2. Baby gates to limit puppy's space
3. Leashes and collars, never take puppy outside without it
4. Bellybands if you already have a problem
5. For accidents that are going to happen, pet specific cleaner, no other will do, puppy will still smell it.
6. If you have a toy or small breed puppy, in extreme circumstances you may have to use a litter box, if you work outside the house and cannot take puppy out for potty breaks, and you cannot find someone to do it for you.

Potty training for puppy dogs can be much easier than you think if you go about it in the right way from the beginning. Please get all the help you need and prevent BREEDING PROBLEMS for the future by using the wrong techniques!
