A Simple Guide to Potty Traning Success

Its not easy to get you little toilet trained, but thank goodness you don't have to do it by yourself. I am a single dad who managed to potty train my now 6 year old son. It was a challenging but excellent learning process and I want to share my success secrets with you! Read on.

The First Step to Potty Training Success

Knowing How to Get Started

Potty training your toddler can be a task that seems insummountable. So its important how you view it from the very beginning. If you do not develop the correct mindset from the get go, you will fail. The frustration that will result from your initial failure will impact your overall perception of the task and needless to say, your innocent toddler will pick up on it.

From the very onset, you need to realize that this task is achievable, no matter what it takes and how impossible it may seem, you will get your little one potty trained. In addition, you need to view your child as a winner, that way if they fall back and it seems that progress is not being made, you will not express your frustration on your little bundle of love. Good luck, and have great success

The Difference between Boys and Girls

Is it Easier to Train One or the Other

It is generally said that training girls is easier than training boys. Girls by nature are calmer than boys who tend to be less settled. And mostly because mom will be the one naturing the toddler and as we know, the child will imitate the parent of the same sex, then the daughter will easily be influenced by mom in that department. That is why dad should not be left out completely from this process if your child is a boy. It would be a great idea to have dad make a visit to the bathroom so the son can want to copy him. When my son was at that stage, I would always let him watch me when I visited the bathroom and before long, he was wanted to imitate me even when it was not time for him to go.

But yes, boys will tend to be a little bit harder to train just because they are more active than girls and going to potty will be the least interesting activity on there minds.

Using Charts and Stickers

A Great Way to Develop the Image of Success

You need to develop the image of success or your toddler. The most effective way of doing that is by using bathroom charts and stickers. These create that sense of achievement for your son or daughter that will infuse them with the drive to succeed. With every sticker that goes on the chart, he or she will see themselves as achievers, and that will drive them to more success. No wonder paedetricians recommend them and day care centers use them. You can get these charts and stickers easily online by simply searching for potty training chart.
