Power Tools Auctions, Ending Today

Before you bid make sure that you have the correct information on the item you wish to bid on. Make sure you are looking at the model you really want, find out what it's street and other online values are, and what it is asking for in the auction. If you have the time do a search on already closed auctions to see what people paid for the item in the past.

Compare product descriptions carefully. A product that at the end of it's production run is surely a lot less valuable than it's new and upcoming replacement model. What particulars are important to you, does the item come with its original packaging? Do you care if it is slightly blemished or damaged? Then there's always the next auction to move on to...

Power Tools Safety Tips

Power tools are the preferred today as they help users to save time and they also make the job easier. However, they need to be handled carefully otherwise they can lead to injury. Mishaps usually occur due to negligence, boredom, and overconfidence. Be advised:
  1. Safety glasses
One of the most basic pieces of safety equipment that must be used when working with power tools to prevent dust, debris, wood shavings, shards from fiberglass, etc from getting into the eyes.
  2. Earmuffs or Earplugs
Wear earmuffs or earplugs to reduce the impact of noise, which may sound louder in the cloistered environment of a workshop, generated by hte tools you are using.
  3. Use the right tools for the right job
Power tools are normally designed as special purpose hardware or tool. It is important that you fully understand the functions and capability of each tool that you own or are planning to buy.
  4. Use as recommended
Tools should not be carried by their cords; tools that are not in use should be disconnected; and while handling a tool connected to a power source, fingers should be kept away from the on/off switch.
  5. Be properly dressed
Always be properly dressed in workmen's attire when working. Shoddy dressers are not very disciplined and this may lead to care less attitude endangering yourself and those around you. Wear heavy gloves to avoid sharp implements and splinters from hurting the hands. Masks prevent inhalation of harmful minute particles of the material that is being worked upon. Steel-toed work boots and hard hats can also be worn.
  6. Due inspection
Give every piece of tool it's due inspection before and after use. Check for exposed wiring, damaged plugs, and loose plug pins. Nicked cords can be taped but if a cut appears to be deep, a cord should be replaced. Tools that are damaged or those that sound and feel different when used should be checked and repaired.
  7. Clean work environment
An uncluttered work area also makes it easy to work with power tools, distractions caused by a tangled cord can result in an accident. Accumulated dust particles in the air can ignite with a spark and start a fire, same as uncovered flammable liquids that are left in the open where power tools are being used.
