The Most Popular Productivity Methods

The Pomodoro Technique - Transforming Time Into An Ally
At a glance, The Pomodoro Technique looks very much like timeboxing. With timeboxing, you decide on a specific period of time, usually from twenty minutes to an hour, during which you work exclusively on one specific task. Once the time is up, you can choose to devote another "timebox" to that task, or you can choose to go do something else.
The 10 Habits of Zen to Done
Zen to Done (ZTD) is based on David Allen's "Getting Things Done" (GTD), as well as on the work of Stephen Covey and others. It's a set of 10 habits that will help you get organized, simplify your life, get things under control, and get things done.
Time Management Secret: Do It Tomorrow
Mark Forster is the author of "How to Make Your Dreams Come True" and the best-selling "Get Everything Done and Still Have Time to Play". In his latest book, "Do It Tomorrow and Other Secrets of Time Management", he teaches us how to get everything done by doing it tomorrow.
Todoodlist: The To-Do List Made Simple
Nick Cernis, owner of the blog "putthingsoff.com", argues in his eBook Todoodlist that, in order to be at your most productive, all you really need is a pencil and a notebook. A paper-based productivity system in the 21st century? Brilliant.
Simpleology: The Simple Way to Get Things Done
"Simpleology - The Simple Science of Getting What You Want" is a productivity system created by Mark Joyner which follows the basic tenet that simple, small things can have a profound difference in your productivity and in your ability to create happiness and success in your life.
Important!

"Do we have a shortage of time? No, we don't. Time is the medium in which we exist. To complain about a shortage of time is like a fish in the sea complaining that it has a shortage of water."

- Mark Forster

Setting and Achieving Goals

The Paint by Number Approach to Accomplishing Your Goals
It is widely touted that goals have to be SMART: specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and timely. However, even after we have written our SMART goals, we still don't know how we're going to achieve those goals.

But what if we had a roadmap telling us exactly what to do in order to achieve our goals, much like the "Paint by Number Kit" told us exactly which color went where?

The Power of Full Engagement

In my article "Energy Management: Getting More Done" I make reference to this fabulous book. Time is the resource we most often turn to in order to meet the demands of life. For example, if your workload increases, you put in more hours. However, there comes a point at which you can't put in more hours because time is a finite resource. The good news is that there's a different resource you can turn to, and that resource is energy. Energy can be systematically expanded, and it can be regularly renewed.

The Elasticity of Time

The Elasticity of Time (Part 1)
Although most of us are enslaved by the clock, linear time broken up into hours, minutes, and seconds is a creation of man.
The Elasticity of Time (Part 2)
Start thinking of yourself as having the power to determine, to a large extent, how quickly-or how slowly-you achieve the outcomes that you've envisioned for your life.
The Elasticity of Time (Part 3)
Perhaps the most important way in which to make time more elastic is by learning to take your time. Slow down the pace of life, live in the present, take time to develop your skills and talents, and simply resolve to live longer.
The Elasticity of Time (Part 4)
This is the fourth installment in the elasticity of time series in which I argue that we are not at the mercy of the passage of time; instead, we can take steps to make time more elastic.

"No" Your Way to Increased Productivity

Conquering Procrastination: The Now Habit
"The Now Habit", written by psychologist Neil Fiore Ph.D., is a classic in overcoming procrastination. The book's essential message is the following:

"Procrastination is a mechanism for coping with the anxiety associated with starting or completing any task or decision. It is your attempted solution to cope with tasks that are boring or overwhelming. "
A Guide For Creating New Habits
A habit is basically a set of actions that you carry out on a regular basis without thinking. In fact, scientific research has shown that when you carry out certain actions in a repetitive and continuous manner, neural pathways are created in the brain, making the habit almost completely automatic. The actions we carry out repeatedly form our habits, and then our habits create our lives.
The 25-50-25 Rule for Getting Things Done
The 25-50-25 rule says that to put what you learn into practical action, you must divide your time as follows: spend 25% of the time researching and studying the subject matter; spend 25% of the time observing; then spend 50% of your time actually doing.
Productivity Tool: "Mise en Place"
"Mise en place" (pronounced MEEZ ahn plahs) is a French phrase which basically means "to put the right things in the right place". It's used by chefs to refer to the process of getting things ready before they start to cook the meal. The concept of mis en place can be applied to almost any other area of your life to help you be more prepared, organized, and productive.
Six Tips to Make Ideas Happen
Ideas are plentiful. However, ideas that are seen through to completion are an entirely different story.
Productivity and Foie Gras
In the quest for doing more-which we often mistake for productivity-we often apply the rough equivalent of gavage to our own work methods. We work insanely long hours, skip meals, fail to get any exercise, stop by a fast food joint on the way home from work and get a burger and fries because we're too tired to shop for healthy food and cook, and so on.
