I have searched low and high for the best guide on the Internet for getting power off grid and I found the best guide with even videos.
With some basic tools you might already have around the home you can get started.
You do not have to buy all new parts brand new either. They can be second hand, used, or just stuff someone is trying to get rid off. You can either get parts at your local hardware store or poke around and try to find some real nice deals.
eBay, craigslist, classifieds and anything of that sort might be a potential source of used parts. It doesn't hurt to check.
Search for panels, even broken ones as parts can be scavenged and charge controllers and inverters. Having a multimeter is a definite.
