A great tool in the collegiate or business setting, Microsoft PowerPoint is necessary in todays visual world. PowerPoint is key in keeping an audience interested and focused on the point you are trying to make. If you are a complete newcomer to the world of Microsoft PowerPoint, here is a quick beginner's tutorial.
This is the obvious first step. Microsoft PowerPoint can be found on the internet, with your computer or sold separately with the Microsoft Suite. The software is well worth the money. Go out and get it or order it off of the internet and install it on your computer. Now you are ready to go.
2. Choose your template
You can either start from scratch with a blank presentation or use a preloaded template. For beginners, I suggest the preloaded template. Also, you can use the Auto Content Wizard to help you along the way. Once you become more advanced, you can download different templates online to further suit your needs.
3. Add slides
Once you have finished the framework of your presentation, you have to choose the individual slides. There is a main menu that you can choose your slides from. There are different slides for different needs (graphics, text, bullets etc.). If you are using the wizard, follow the prompts.
4. View slideshow
This is how you make sure your presentation is how you want it. Go to "view slideshow" and you can go through your presentation by either hitting the enter key, space bar, arrow key or right mouse button. If everything is up to your standard, save it and you are all set.
Microsoft PowerPoint is an easy, great tool to really bring your presentations to life. There isn't a whole lot to it, but it is exponentially better than a standard oral report. Good luck!
