Secret Weapons for your Perfect Style: Color Season
What's This All About?
glad you asked!
We're going to talk about color seasons, which are palettes of color that complement a particular range of hair color, eye color and skin tone.* Learn how to determine your Color Season
* Tricks for choosing basic wardrobe colors that work with your Color Season
Four Basic Color Seasons
Just as there are four seasons to the calendar year, there are four Color Seasons. The similarity stops there, however.A Color Season is a range of colors that works with a specific combination of hair color, eye color and skin tone. They are labelled Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter.
Spring Color Season
are you a Spring?

Your colors mirror the budding English garden, leaf green, pinks from pale to rose, carnations, seafoam, shades that warm and sparkle against your skin as the sun begins to brighten, yet remain delicate.
- Your eyes may carry that sunlight within, in the shape of a sunburst upon gray tones, and may be blue, a shade of green or perhaps gray.
- Your hair is golden -blonde or brown- perhaps even reddish hued.
- Your skin may have that rose petal quality that shifts between light and shadow, yet have the color to stand out as the highlight of the garden. Its base tones are probably golden or yellow.

Warm colors are the colors on the color wheel of red, red-orange, orange, orange-yellow, yellow, and yellow-green.
Just a reminder: When we talk about a color season, we're talking about a selection of colors that work best with a particular eye, skin and hair color combination.
Summer Color Season
are you a Summer?

Your colors race along the pastel edge of the color wheel, beach umbrellas and cabana covers, soft jungle greens and peach magenta, radiant and sun-soaked. Nothing too brilliant or the color will drown you out!
- Your eyes may have patterns of crackly glass beneath the surface, catching and reflecting the afternoon sun, and are probably bluish gray or bluish green.
- Your hair may be ash blonde or pale blonde.
- Your skin probably has base tones of red or blue.

Cool colors are the colors on the color wheel of green, green-blue, blue, blue-violet, violet, and violet-red.
Autumn Color Season
are you an Autumn?

Your colors are warm and toasty, rich and deep, perhaps a bit muted, more in the range of earthen hues and natural tones.
- Your eyes may have flecks of sunlit gold. They are deep brown or green, maybe even hazel.
- Your skin may have a translucent quality to it, with base tones of gold or yellow, bronze, olive, tending toward tan or slightly dark, to glow next to rich vibrant Fall tones.
- Your hair is golden brown or chesnut or coppery or auburn or red, or a combination.

Warm colors are the colors on the color wheel of red, red-orange, orange, orange-yellow, yellow, and yellow-green.
Winter Color Season
are you a Winter?

Your colors are cool and crisp, icy and pale, shades of the northern seas, of arctic sunlight reflecting off of snow-capped peaks.
- Your eyes may have spokes glinting in the color, quite likely blue, dark brown, green, or even hazel.
- Your skin may be highly translucent, ethereal and elf-like, Scandinavian, fair and moonlit, with base tones of red or blue.
- Your hair is quite possibly black or very deep brown.
The interplay of your seasonal wintery colors with your skin and hair is delicate and subtle. But all is not pale in your wardrobe... you wear a deep blue velvet with the calm sophistication of royalty.

Cool colors are the colors on the color wheel of green, green-blue, blue, blue-violet, violet, and violet-red.
