Why is Music important?

Did you know music uses both side of the brain? So just because there not moving there pencils or solving problems doesn't mean there not learning. If music were to continue in a child's life in school they would do better academically than a student who did not take any music classes, that's because music helps develop the brain, think about it, when you work out how you feel after, less stressed, clearer thinking, more relaxed well music is like a workout for the brain. Even 20min xylophone lessons in second grade helped me in school. I could on and on how music can be benefitted academically, but there are other resinous why music is important.
Ever note the drop out rates in high schools; it would be more alarming if there was no music for them to keep kids interested in school. And because high school or any school can be over whelming in a child's life music is giving them a chance to get away from it all. It's estimated that about 2,500 students dropout of high school everyday. Personally I would not have been able to go through school with out the passion I have for music and how going to school has given me a chance for music to reach out to me, and other kids.

Music connects people, think of all the different places bands and musicians travel, all around the world. The Beatles, Madonna, The Spice Girls, The Rolling Stones, Michele Jackson and many others whose music has touched the world. You don't even have to understand the language of the lyrics, but you can here the sorrow in there voice, the anger, the happiness, the romance is all in the tone of there voice and the rhythm of the music. Have you noticed how many social music sites there are, where you can make playlists and share them with others over the internet. Making playlists is the new way of making a mix tape for that special someone.
