My Experience learning Spanish

Practice Spanish Conjugations

Practice Spanish Conjugations, Photo: PhotostockThe story may go on a bit... but I think it's worth reading!

My family decided to move to Spain when I was fourteen. It was a big move for us, as we was moving to the Canary Islands, without speaking a word of Spanish!

You can imagine what was going through my head at that point! "Why have my parents taken me here?" "I don't understand anything these Spanish people are saying to me." "It would be so simple to move back to my hometown, where atleast I understand everyone!"
So thats when I realised, "I have to learn Spanish".

Once I had that realisation, I began to listen and study harder. I slowly started to understand the other children in class, which was a big relief.

The biggest and best form of revision for me was to practice Spanish conjugations. I used to practice for hours everyday all the Spanish verbs...

This meant I began to understand who, what, when they were talking about. I began to respond in a correct manner. I began writing in past, present and future tenses.

Suddenly my Spanish really started to improve. Thankfully it has made me into the Spanish speaker I am today.
No Spanish British girl, into fluent in Spanish British girl!
It was also a massive hit with the locals, as they began to respect me for speaking their native language.

I found many people who had been living there for a great number of years, not speaking a word of Spanish to them. Always trying to get away with talking English. Of course they do not mind practising their English with you. However they really love a foreigner who can speak their own language.

So the practice of Spanish conjugations, proved to be the most useful way to learn Spanish.

¡No me digas, tu hablas español! - No way, you speak spanish!

A Funny Practice Spanish Quotation

"I bought a self learning record to learn Spanish. I turned it on and went to sleep; the record got stuck. The next day I could only stutter in Spanish."

Stephen Wright quotes (American Actor and Writer, b.1955)

Have you ever found...

With practising Spanish Conjugations

Practice Spanish Conjugations, Photo: VladoIt can be very difficult to practice Spanish conjugations not having the correct material to study from. Without this practice as your basis, it can be a challenge to express yourself in Spanish.

It is often the case that you know the words you want to say, but do not remember how to conjugate them!
This can cause all sorts of confusion.

Imagine if you want to say I am busy , which comes from the verb Ocupar. If you do not know how to conjugate the verb correctly, you could easily end up saying I was busy, I will be busy or even mix up who you are talking about (he, she, you, we).

I am busy: Estoy ocupado

Confusion all round for both you and the Spanish. It is amazing when you start to conjugate the verbs correctly. Just wait and see.

Practice, practice and practice Spanish conjugations to overcome these situations and become fluent in no time.

A place I recommend to practice joining Spanish verbs, to compose sentences and learn Spanish of all levels is Spanish Verb Conjugation. Check it out for all the information.

Oh, if only Spanish was made up of just nouns, I might do better with it. I keep getting the verb tenses confused.
