SSAT Practice Test: Step by Step

Ranked #37,596 in Education, #660,577 overall

Organization is Necessary for the SSAT Practice Test

How can organization help to take the SSAT practice test?  Parents often are overwhelmed by the fact that they do not have a plan as to how they can help their child practice for the SSAT.

The most common reaction is to pay for expensive tutors, buy study books and anything that looks like it can help. This approach is going to not only  overwhelm the child but will demotivate them as well.

This situation should be avoided at all costs and an organized plan that both the child and parent have worked on will not only motivate but will most likely lead to success.

SSAT Practice Test Study Plan

Create plan together

Creating a study plan has great benefits especially if parent(s) and child do it together. Be creative in creating a plan; it can be colorful, or a huge poster on the wall or even a private memo book. Whatever the method, it is important that the plan is achievable in the time frame allotted.

The advantages of doing the plan together is the commitment from both parents and child, it creates responsibility and awareness and the success rate of getting through the material are higher.

Start Practicing SSAT Practice Test Early Enough

Allow ample amount of time

Make a learning plan and divide them into phases. An example could look like this.
phase 1. Practicing skills + time schedule
phase 2. Review example tests after practicing to be more secure and not to lose motivation
phase 3. Review (1 week before exam)

Doing such a plan should reduce unnecessary pressure so that the test taker isn't overwhelmed or nervous. We all know what results look like when we are overly nervous and can't perform as we normally would. True strengths are not shown.

Actually practicing the SSAT Practice Test

Make learning fun by choosing best method

Test preparation online is fun and valuable. This phase should be the longest and hopefully enough practice time has been planned in . There are many ways a child can prepare for the private school test. My experiences as a mother of three as well as my teaching experience have come to the conclusion that a child needs to have some sort of motivation to tackle more learning material even if their parents are highly motivated!

Without the fun element children are very, very hard to motivate to do anything.... Well this is my experience and hope it helps in selecting a suitable product. I recommend an SSAT practice test online.

Practice SSAT test format

Gain more self confidence while practicing

Know the test format and review example entrance exam tests..

1. This gives the child the opportunity to get acquainted with the format of the test.. In doing so, the child knows what to expect and gains more self confidence.

2. Do not give your child the practice exams without having adequate time to practice the material. WHY? To avoid being overwhelmed and discouraged should they not know the answers.

3. When your child has been given enough time to practice, then give them a practice exam and let them experience some success. Then go back to the areas that need brushing up on and practice.

4. Do more practice exams. The trick is to keep your child motivated which will lead to success.

Final Review

After all has been done

The last phase is to review. All the work has been done and now shortly before the entrance exam it is time to LOOK OVER the material that may come to the exam. This phase should be very relaxed, non pressure and should just be a reassurance to the test taker. Parents can help in that they DO NOT put on extra pressure should there still be areas which are not perfect.

Remember for this type of testing you can not cram. It's all about starting early enough and preparing step by step.
