Practicing the Piano for Success
Many students come to us and ask, "Where do I start and how do I become a better piano player quicker?" Well, first off, there is no quick fix on learning a skill so complicated as being a great piano player. Sure you can learn a couple of songs quickly and memorize the sequence and impress friends and family. But what happens when they want more? Or when you need to feel more fulfilled and accomplished as a piano player?
The goal for anyone, anywhere to accomplish anything is to be well-prepared and ready to give 100% by working hard and understanding that nothing happens quick. To achieve greatness one must be prepare for a lifetime journey. Now when it comes to practicing the piano or understanding the piano and how to use it to your greatest benefits there are crucial steps that must be taken before placing oneself in a chair in front of the piano.
The first step is creating a goal. The rule of thumb when it comes to creating your goal is keeping it simple and attainable. Do not try to make a goal that you are destined to not achieve from the beginning. Think of the bigger goal you have in mind i.e. learning jazz piano. Now dig deeper into the major goal and come up with smaller more concrete goals that will help you reach the bigger goal. Having multiple goals is also good to create encouragement within yourself because it is an awesome feeling to be able to "check" items of any list.
