I like the idea of keeping a prayer journal. This is a small journal where I can write the intentions that friends ask me to pray for, but it is also a place where I can record my own feelings about my prayer life and my life in general.  It is a private, small, physical place not to be published like a blog and it can be destroyed at the end of the year or when I have filled it.  A few pages can be pulled out, if I don't want to remember some bleak period, or I may keep the entire book to look at again later.

The prayer box is a keepsake box with a tile inset into which I have been putting slips of paper with all of the requests people give me.  This is especially good for those intentions about which I really don't know how to pray.  The box is a way of lifting the intentions up to the Lord and letting Him take care of them.  It is also there on hectic days for me to visualize, "I give these to you, Lord and ask you to take care of them."  It is a new spiritual practice to me.  I think the Keepsake boxes that CafePress sells are especially beautiful for this purpose, so I offer you several that I have designed.  My Prayer Box is my Fred is Peace design. The boxes now come in two finishes: mahogany or piano (black) finish. They are hinged and have red felt on the bottoms. I have made them in most of my designs. They will hold photos and a rosary or medals as well as prayer slips.

Prayer Journal Treasure

My Mother's Prayer Journal

One of my most treasured possessions is a small notebook that my mother kept while she was a high school student. In it she recorded her favorite prayers. After her death, I copied many into a blank book that I called "my Mama book". I included holy cards from her collection, photographs and memories. I was going back to graduate school at that time to take my doctoral qualifying exams and I wanted something special of her with me, but didn't want to carry the small, fragile notebook that was in her hand-writing away with me. I left that at home in her desk drawer where I found it and now both will be passed on to family members, whom I hope will cherish them as I do.

The small journals from cafepress.com/margueritemanor are designed with use as prayer journals in mind as one of their purposes.
