Precor Treadmills Premium Home Treadmills For The Runner in All of Us

Treadmills by Precor are known as being a premium line of treadmills for your home ( or for light commercial use) and are meant for the casual user or one on a tight budget.

The Precor treadmills shown on this page are from the premium series and are built with the latest technology designed for those who like to use their treadmill for running and sprinting. A good choice for the marathon or 10K runner as a treadmill can be used no matter what the weather is outside.

Walking as an exercise.
Walking is considered to be a weight bearing exercise and weight bearing exercises help to prevent bone loss and can actually help to strenghten your bones. Many doctors recommend walking to their patients to help prevent bone loss.

Walking also is an exercise that will help to improve your muscle balance while it is toning and building lean muscle, burning off calories, improving your cardio vascular system, enhancing lung function and best of all, walking is an exercise that almost everyone can take advantage of..

While most of us can easily add walking into our daily life, only a small percentage actually do.
While some of us don't have a good place to walk others don't feel safe walking in their neighborhood due to lose dogs.

There are also many that find that the only time they can walk is very late at night or early in the morning when it is dark and they can't always see potholes and cracks in the road which causes a safety issue.

Then you have a good percentage of us who feel self-conscience walking in public due to the way we look or we are afraid of rude people making nasty remarks as they drive by in their cars. Even if you have a good, slim looking body you may not feel comfortable walking in public due to cat calls and whistles.

In many areas you also have the problem with weather conditions - rain, snow and high temperatures can make walking uncomfortable and sometimes unhealthy.

This is when you really start to see why having a treadmill in your home is a good decision and investment in your health and safety.

You can rely on your Precor treadmill to give you the workout that you want and the workout that your body needs.

Precor's Mission
The goal for Precor is to become the most respected brand in fitness equipment

Precor Premium Series 9.31 Treadmill

A very nice running treadmill with a running surface that is long (56") and is wide enough for a natural sway when you run (22")

Don't confuse the running surface with a treadbelt size.

Often your running surface is smaller than a treadbelt, so if your treadbelt is 56" x 22" your running surface will be smaller.

This isn't too important to a treadmill walker but if you plan on sprinting or running on your treadmill then you will find a longer, wider running surface is very important and this treadmill has a nice running surface.

You can see why Precor has included the Precor Premium Series 9.31 Treadmill, in their premium series of treadmills.
One of my favorite aspects of this treadmill is that it has an incline up to 15%.
This is around 3% higher than most treadmill inclines. Now 3% may not sound like a lot, however, when working out the 3% difference will help you burn more calories per workout and also will target your muscles a bit differently than at 0-12% so you get a more varied workout.

You could also argue that at 15% incline it doesn't have the incline level of an incline trainer of 40% but this not an incline trainer as incline trainers have an entirely different purpose that a treadmill that has a longer and wider running surface.

  • You can password protect your treadmill and lock it so that you don't have to worry about your children getting on to the treadmill and getting injured.
  • There are 8 workout programs which include: including 1-mile, 10k course, 5k course, 1 heart rate, 1 interval, 1 manual, 1 random, 1 weight loss. But you can also customize your workouts according to your goals, your age or weight and has a workout log and a tracker so that you can compare your workout against "your personal best". This is a great feature because it allows you to stay motivated by competing with yourself and if you think about it, why would you want to compete with anyone else. No one has the same exact goals as you have.
  • The Bio-feedback center with SmartRate provides the unique ability to give you feedback on your heart rate and your calories. Feedback is a bit different then just flashing your stats like most treadmills.
  • The 9.31 treadmill has a unique Precor system where it matches the belt speed to your personal and individual foot speed. This allows you to run or sprint naturally without having to lengthen or shorten your stride to match your belt's speed - it matches you. This system works on all the treadmill speeds and is one of the features that sets this Precor apart from others in its price range..
  • The 931 has speeds that go up to 12MPH and as mentioned earlier it will incline up to 15%.
  • The arms on the 931 are short so they don't get in the way or your running sway. There are many treadmill that have long rails and if you are planning on doing more than just walking you may find yourself hitting into them. With these arms being shorter and close to the front of the treadmill you don't have to worry about bashing into them.
  • The Phenolic laminate deck is reversible which will double it's life.
  • The strong 3.0 HP motor is actually a 3.0 CHP, which translates to a continuous horse power motor. This differs from a standard 3.0 as a continuous motor can run at full speed without jerking or hesitating.

The Precor 9.31 treadmill has many other niceties that have not been listed here.

The Precor 9.35 Treadmill Will Decline in Addition to Incline

There aren't many treadmills that can decline, however the Precor 9.35 can be set to a 2% decline.
We all know that increasing the incline on your treadmill will help you burn more calories and a shorter amount of time and will also help you target different muscle groups.

Now when you add a declining feature you simulate walking (or running) up and down hills. Have you ever noticed how when you walk down a hill you can often feel your muscles the next day? Sure.

This is because you are using you muscles differently than with walking on a flat surface or an incline surface. By having a declining motion on your treadmill you add an additional element to your workout.

    Precor 9.35 Premium Series Treadmill

The Precor 9.35 adds on to the features that are available on the Precor 9.31.

  • The Precor 9.35 has a whopping 23 total programs, including 1-mile, 10k course, 2-mile, 5k course, 2 custom, fitness test, 2 goal, 5 heart rate, 4 interval, 1 manual, 1 random, 1 track, 1 walk, 1 weight loss. You will find that these included programs are more than enough and well targeted to help you reach your goals without getting muscle boredom.

Muscle boredom is when you continually work the body in the same way. After a few weeks your muscles get accustomed to it and just like with dieting your body hit a plateau. With being able to continually change work workouts, your muscles do not hit a plateau but continue to be enhanced.

The workout programs are also customizable and if you watch the video right below this section titled " How to adjust your Precor 9.35 treadmill's setting to burn the calories that you want" you can see how you can customize towards one goal. There are several different functions that you can play with.
  • As with the 9.31, the 9.35 has speeds up to 12MPH and inclines up to 15%, but also has a 2% decline which is very cool.
  • The 9.35 has Heart Rate Monitoring: A combination of easy-to-use hand grip sensors and wireless heart rate telemetry allow you to monitor your heart rate during workouts. SmartRate displays your heart rate to keep you in your target zone to help increase your cardio-training and weight-loss results. This 9.31 does not have the hand grip sensors but does work with a wireless heart rate telemetry belt.
