Pregnancy Morning Sickness Remedies

If you find yourself nauseous during your pregnancy, morning sickness remedies are probably something you are very interested in. While there is not one cure that works for every single woman, you should be able to find something that will work for you.

Don't be alarmed if you find something to take the edge off of your morning sickness and then find that it seems to stop working. Sometimes you'll have to try several different methods to get relief. And you may even have a day every now and then where nothing works. Just remember that it won't last forever and try to to take it one day at a time.

Pregnancy Morning Sickness Remedies to Try

Here are the most simple remedies you can try to alleviate your morning sickness. Many of these are very traditional and may be overlooked, but the fact is that they have been effective for many women.

  • Try to eat something before you get out of bed in the morning. Nausea seems to be worse when your stomach is empty.

  • Try bland foods that do not have a strong taste or smell. Foods that should keep your stomach from getting upset are bananas, applesauce, rice or toast (the good old BRAT diet).

  • Try breaking your meals down - instead of 3 meals a day, try 6 smaller meals

  • Sometimes water can make you feel nauseous, but it's REALLY important to keep hydrated. Try to drink smaller amounts more often and don't drink with your meal.

  • Citrus can sometimes ease nausea - try sniffing or biting into lemons to see if it helps you. Lemon-lime sodas can sometimes do the trick as well.

  • Ginger ale may also help calm your stomach down. Remember to sip it slowly.

Alternative Pregnancy Morning Sickness Remedies

Sometimes making changes to your lifestyle or diet won't help your morning sickness. If this is the case for you, try this alternative method that involves acupressure.

There is a small point at the inside of your wrist that, when pressed up, helps to relieve nausea. It is on the thumb side of your arm, an inch or two below your wrist. It is very near the outside of the arm and if you feel around for it, you'll feel a slight indention.

You can use your opposite hand to apply pressure or you can purchase a specially designed bracelet that will apply pressure for as long as you'd like. Originally packaged under the brand Sea Bands, they were designed for people who suffer from motion sickness. Now that pregnant women have discovered the benefits of them as well, they have been made by other companies and even come in cute patterns and colors.
