Yoga During Pregnancy
There is no form of exercise more suited to pregnancy than yoga. It helps you to stay fit and healthy during your pregnancy and also allows you to get more in tune with your body and your unborn baby.
Yoga benefits both your body and your mind, it opens the pelvis, improves your posture and balance, strengthens the core muscles and helps you to relax and connect with your baby.
Pregnancy yoga is great for helping you to prepare for the birth and is wonderful for stress management too. Ask your midwife about any antenatal yoga classes that run in your area, or watch one of the great DVDs available.

Guidelines For Pregnancy Yoga
Yoga is an extremely safe form of exercise during pregnancy, but there are a few safety guidelines to keep in mind:Listen to your body - if you feel pain or discomfort or just plain tired then stop
Avoid Bikram yoga (this is yoga performed in a hot environment) for the whole of your pregnancy
Always take it slow and steady
Keep yourself well hydrated - drink water before and after your yoga session
If you attend a yoga class always tell your teacher that you are pregnant and how far gone you are - some poses are not advisable at certain stages of pregnancy
Avoid over-stretching - during pregnancy relaxin softens your ligaments making your more likely to suffer pulls and strains
After 12 weeks of pregnancy avoid any poses on your back so as not to restrict blood flow to your uterus
