I had been trying to become pregnant for almost 2 yrs. I tried every method, every piece of advice, and nothing worked... I bought this book not because I was looking for one (I had read enough by now!), but because it was on sale. Best decision I ever made. Apart from the good information contained in the book and covered by many here, what it did for me was helped me get pregnant. I had been timing things incorrectly all along! After reading that chapter and following the instructions, I kid you not, I was pregnant first shot. There was nothing wrong with me or him, it was poor timing. Practical, easy to understand and follow advice is this book's strong point. If you're like me and like straight forward good information, without fluff, this is the book for you!

A MUST have: If you are looking for a thorough pregnancy book, this has to be it. When I got it from my doctor (he gives one out to each new, expectant mom) I was surprised at how big it was. Wow! A lot of reading material. However, this one covers just about everything you want to know about pregnancy and then some. There was also some stuff in here that I particularly didn't want to know!! However, it's a good, solid read and one of the best.

The Expectant Father: Facts, Tips, and Advice for Dads-to-Be (New Father Series)

This is a must buy for a brand new dad. Of all the books that I have bought on having a new baby, this proved to be the most informative and the book that I return to on a regular basis as a reference. It not only addresses the development of the baby, but the development of the new family. I found that it's insight into the emotional changes that my wife and I were experiencing were remarkably synchopated with our actual experience. I also found it to be very easy to read and follow. I would describe it as an ideal companion book to 'the girlfriends guide to pregnancy', and would recommend both new parents to read both books to get the male and female perspective of the experience. If you have to buy one book as a new daddy, have this be the one. I have just purchased the follow-on book, 'the new father' with the hopes that it equally illuminates the first year of the newborn.

The Pregnancy Journal: A Day-to-Day Guide to a Healthy and Happy Pregnancy

My mother gave me a copy of Christine Harris' book when I was a couple of months pregnant and after opening the book I'd wished I'd had it since day one! I immediately found information that was applicable to me personally and I could relate to everything that she had written. From then on it was a daily companion and I found it difficult to not read days, weeks, or even months ahead. I particulary liked the pages where she allowed room to write a journal entry on your thoughts and feelings that day. I still go back and read it now and then. I also liked that there was room to chart your weight and waist line. Some women may be apprehensive about charting their weight but later on you're really glad that you did. It's fun to look back on. Two days ago I found out I was pregnant with my second child and I'm heading out to the store today to get my second copy for this pregnancy. Thank you Christine!

The Pregnancy Bible: Your Complete Guide to Pregnancy and Early Parenthood

I have purchased many pregnancy books and this is my favorite of them all. The book is thorough and informative. I like the sections on what is healthy to eat and what to stay away from. I also like the exercise section that has pictures, not diagrams, of pregnant women doing the exercises.

My husband likes this book because it shows him pictures of what I am supposed to look like as well as what the developing embryo is supposed to look like each week. He is disinterested in all the other pregnancy books.

I would recommend this book to anyone who is pregnant or who is planning to become pregnant.

This was the only pregnancy book I bought and I feel like it gave me all the answers I needed to know. I especially liked how each month would tell me how big the baby was and what I could expect my body to be going through. Also gave a break down on each blood test and other tests that would be happening and when so you were already informed before going to the doctors appointment. Overall, great book and great price. Would definitely recommend.

The Working Woman's Pregnancy Book (Yale University Press Health & Wellness)

This is the book many women have been waiting for - it contains all of the thorough, up to date and accurate "doctor" information on surviving a working pregnancy AND all the information you'd get over coffee from your friends who've been through it - and their friends who've been through it (if you had time to go for (decaf) coffee!). It's really a helpful resource for any pregnant woman - working out of the home or not - because of the plethora of relevant and useful information. Great gift for expectant moms.
