This lens was originally developed for Pre-Need Burial/Funeral Counselors to see what few tips I have here and to submit their own ideas/tips for a successful pre-need sale. However over the months I have tossed around the idea of modifying the lens to include polls and a guest book for you to submit your own story.
I will keep the tips for a successful pre need sale, and even add some new tips in the future. But this lens will slowly take a different shape over the coming weeks. I will be adding other helpful information. For instance "Stubborn Reasons Why People Refuse To Pre Plan" soon, and other information that you will hopefully find useful.
If you have any questions or comments or have any requests for any particular information PLEASE CONTACT ME!! I am more than happy to be of help.
P.S.- If you find this lens to be helpful to you would you kindly rate it, please?
Thank you for taking the time to read this lens. I hope you get something out of it.
Mausoleum Entombment VS. Ground Burial
Mausoleum Entombent. The Clean, Dry Alternative To Ground Burial
There are four things you must have with a ground burial; 1.A plot, 2.A vault, 3.A monument or tombstone and 4.The opening/closing of the grave space and tent and chairs. The only purpose of the vault is to protect the grave from collapsing after the casket has deteriorated. Of course the tent and chairs is to keep loved ones from getting snowed or rained on, etc. The mausoleum entombent eliminates the need for a plot,vault,monument/tombstone, and if there is a chapel, the tent and chairs. In most cases there will still be an opening/closing of the crypt space but is usually much less money than the opening of the ground space. The crypt front on a mausoleum is also the monument and in most cases are included in the price. Entombment is an all around dignified way to go. It is above ground in a clean, dry environment. The need for a vault, monument and outdoor tent service is eliminated. Most importantly the mausoleum entombent is usually comparable to the cost of a ground burial, or in the case of the cemetery I work for, cheaper.
I consider myself a professional at selling these to families. But I do not consider myself a god. I know that there are others out there that could teach me a thing or two. I welcome the thoughts and comments of other counslors. By the same token I am willing and eager to help any other counselor who wants it. I am also here for the pre need consumers out there who may have questions.
Thank you!
New Quick Poll
This is an unscientific poll
This poll is to give you and me an idea of what is on the minds of Americans concerning pre arranged funerals and burials.
Please share any stories that you may have
You probably have experienced a loss in your family at some point in your life. In some cases the responsiblity of making the arrangements may have been up to you. In some cases your loved one may have had the presence of mind to have had his or her arrangements made in advance.
Please share your story. Whether you made the arrangements or if they were made in advance by your loved one. Share with us your feelings and opinions on this delicate subject.
I thank you in advance for your participation.

I've been and still a Family Service Counselor in Houston Texas for 8 years... Through it all , I have to say that I've pretty much seen it all.... Living in a big city , and being in this business , well , you know what I mean... We do get very busy..... It's unfortunate that we are the ones that families turn to for advise to take care of their loved ones arrangements once death has occured.. As a counselor for the family , I have to say , it's been tough.... I can't say that I enjoy what I do , but I do help families the best way that I can in their worst days of their lives...I personally think it is very important that everyone should have some sort of protection of something in case something happens (death)..... But to have a prearrange funeral plan , something that your spouse , your kids , or who ever is going to be the one to make these arrangements for you is the best gift you can leave behind... We are all going to face this , so please take care of yourself and family...

When I was a preneed counselor, I had the unfortunate event of one of my preneed clients pass away only months after discussing the need with them.
I will say that using preneed insurance in this case helped to cover everything. The family didn't have to come in and spend a lot of time determining what to get as it had already been done and they were thankful.

As a third generation funeral service provider
I have personally witnessed the chaos generated
when families don't communicate even their basic final wishes.
Over the years I have continued to bang the drum about pre-arrangement and what a wonderful gift it is to leave your family.
Keys To A Successful Pre Need Sale
#1. The Warm Up
It is also important to talk a little bit about yourself. People want to know that if they do buy something that they are helping out a family man. So, talk about your kids and your wife/husband. Not too much though. Remember, this is all about the family and making them comfortable with you and the possible purchase that they are about to make.
More to come. I will put new keys to a successful sale in the days to come. I would like for you to come back often. Any comments or suggestions are very welcome. Any tips that you may be able to offer is also welcome.
Thank you for reading. If you liked it please click on the advertisers. You don't have to buy anything. It just helps me and them out. Thanks again!!!
#2 Kill The Gimmick!
If your organization uses the Free Burial Space program to get in front of a family, you MUST KILL THE GIMMICK!
I always tell them the truth. For every space we give away, when that space is used we sell 5 to 8 spaces as a direct result of the one that we gave away. Family wants to be buried with family. We know it as fact. That is why we give these plots away. Not only that but we will get the opening and closing on that free space when the time comes. A monument sale and probably the vault to go with it.
To sum it all up, always, always, always explain in great detail WHY your organization gives these away. People will understand and gladly accept the title to the space and not question you as to why after that.
So, step one is to warm up a great deal to the family. Step two is to kill the gimmick. No matter what kind of program you are using to get in front of that family.
Still to come, more keys to a successful pre need sale. Be sure to save this lens to your favorites. I will be adding essential keys to closing more of the appointments that you run.
Thank you for reading. If this has helped you in any way I would be pleased to know. I can be emailed at strayman2000@hotmail.com .
