My dress was borrowed. Everyone thought I was strange for being excited by this... but it was my Matron Of Honor's dress, when I was her Maid Of Honor. She is my very best friend, and I picked out the dress for her 3 years prior because it was the most beautiful dress and suit her perfectly. I never had a thought in my head about wearing it myself, but she offered, and it fit (which I thought was a miracle) so there you have it- I had a dress. We were both thrilled to share a wedding dress. Money was an issue for both of us and she never had to buy it, as her mom & dad purchased it for her, and I never bought it either. Perhaps not a solution for everyone, but I thought this way: had it been my mothers dress saved for me, no one would bat an eye. Her parents BTW, were at my wedding... and I think it made them even happier to see me marry in the dress.
