Skills

Medical expertise, Leadership, Machinery, Herbology, Architecture, Weaponry, Close Quarters Fighting, Gardening, Hunting, Electricity and Tailoring are just some of the skill sets you will need in your beginning situation. If potential members already have valuable life experience, all the better.0 points

Fitness

Ideally, this shouldn't be too much of an issue. Make sure that you have people of various ages in your group. Try not to pick elderly people who aren't physically fit. Try not to pick young couples who have very young children. Make sure all members can stand long term hikes and exposure to harsh climate.0 points

The president of your group may or may not be the same as the president of the meetings, but make sure it's absolutely clear who is the fearless leader in time of catastrophe!0 points

Store 300 lbs of grain per person when properly packaged, these can last up to thirty years.0 points

Consider Local Food Sources

Start On-site Gardening

Consider planting trees or berry bushes at your location. Plant bulbs such as onion and garlic. Consider which vegetables are native to your region. Plant a stash and learn how to recognize edible plants.0 points

It would be nice if someone in the group could rig up a car engine to become a generator if you need it.0 points

Both hand to hand and with weaponry and guns. You never know when you will need to defend your villiage.0 points

This will not only be good for your health, but is an easy way to generate electricity in crisis. Don't be without one of these, in either your future society location or in your home!0 points

Hike

Go hiking and camping. This is great practice should you need to hike to your lcoation in an emergency. Do treks of a few miles to your campsite. Remember to get a backpack that has a waist strap.0 points
