Presbyopia - a terrible name for a common challenge
(prez-by-opia)
Presbyopia actually translates to "Aging Eye". I agree, that's an awful name!
Medically speaking, it is simple to remember and the fact remains that just about everybody passed the age of 40 experiences symptoms of presbyopia.
Simply put, it is the reason that we need to put on reading glasses to see up close again. It's when we look at others who are reading books, glancing at their watches, or even scanning through magazines without putting on glasses and think to ourselves; "I used to be able to do that".
For peace of mind, you should remember that each and every person who reached the young age of forty and beyond has also experienced presbyopia.
It truly is no big deal! (once you adjust that is...)

Why Are My Eyes "Aging"?;
...I'm Still Young
That's right, presbyopia doesn't care how young you feel or how healthy you are. It is simple fact that the lens inside your eye that has been focusing up close since you were a little tike, has grown more dense.
This lens was very elastic when you were born and was able to adjust your focus with great power. Each passing day and year, this crystalline lens grows a little bit. It just so happens that right around the age of forty, it has grown so much that it loses the amount of flexibility required to adjust your focus.
The truth is, presbyopia is a process that begins very early in life, we just don't notice it until later on.
So maybe, if we think of that way the name "aging eye" isn't so bad. It's not the eyes are "aged", it's just that they are growing.

Reading Glasses - The best solution for presbyopia
When the time comes, you will learn to love your readers
The good news is that so many eyeglass designers have stepped up to the call and put together some great designer reading glasses that you will love to wear. Cool styles, fun features, and great looks.
I'll outline some of the more forward thinking designers here:
Eyebobs - Fun and funky
You will feel young again
And great standard features on most frames. Like the European Spring Hinges that make your eyeglasses more comfortable to wear as well as easier to slip on and off.
Attention to the design details also help. Straight back temples make many of the Eyebobs reading glasses a breeze to wear. Once you try on a pair of EyeBobs, you may have a new friend for life.
Clic Reading Glasses
Clics are for the fun and, err, forgetful... That's right, Clics are designed to always be there when you need them. The magnetic front temple easily separates so your clic reading glasses can hang around your neck. when you need them, they are right there waiting for you.
