Lets Get Started 

"All About Me"

We will be starting with the lesson:
"All About Me", then I will update often adding Lessons from A to Z.

Craft: Name Necklace
Go to www.lil-fingers.com/coloring/blocks.html
print children's names, have kids color, add stickers.
Punch holes on top 2 corners and tie a piece of yarn into each hole. They now have a cool necklace, which also helps teachers, children, daycare etc. learn who everyone is.

Science Craft: Print up papers with the words.."Made By Thumbody Special" on the top and.. "No One In The Whole World Has A Print Like Mine" at the bottom of page.Have Children press their Thumbs onto ink pad then onto their paper.Now, kids can use a magnifying glass to see that no 2 prints are alike.

Song: I am special, I am special, Don't you see? Don't you see? God made me special, God made me special, cause he loves me, he loves me.

Game: Name that Child Ball Game, during circle time, teacher names a child and rolls the ball to that child, the teacher then says another name and the child with the ball rolls it to that child. Fun and helps children learn classmates names.

Snack: Give each child a gingerbread man shape cookie, frosting, lots of decorations. Let each child create a cookie that looks like them. Lots of Fun and add milk for a wonderful snack.

Letter A 

Apple

Craft:Cut an apple in half. (make a lateral cut, separating the top from the bottom) You should be able to see the "star" that the core forms in the apple. Put some red or green tempera paint in a shallow container, (a pie tin works well) and show your child how to dip the apple in the paint and press onto a piece of paper creating an apple print.

Science:Cut an apple in half and show the children the seeds. Have each child estimate how many seeds they believe are in the apple. Give each child a small apple cutout and write their estimated amount in the apple. Then you can count the apple seeds and let the children see how close they were to the correct amount. You can graph these numbers and hang them as a bulletin board. It's a great math activity as well as a science one.

Game:Pass the Apple
Played like hot potato... have the children sit in a circle and pass an apple around the circle when music is playing, when the music stops the child holding the apple sits in the middle or the "apple pie pot" until the music stops again and the next child replaces the first. You may also chant "hot apple, hot apple 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10" and the child who has the apple on 10 is in the "apple pie pot."

Snack: Apple Ladybugs
Let your kids play with their food for a change. They'll love decorating juicy red apples with pretzels for antennas, raisins for spots and eyes and peanut butter for wings, then snacking on them once they work up an appetite.

Ingredients
2 red apples
1/4 cup raisins
1 tablespoon peanut butter
8 thin pretzel sticks
Cooking Instructions
Slice apples in half from top to bottom, and scoop out the cores using a knife or melon baller. If you have an apple corer, core them first, then slice. Place each apple half flat side down on a small plate.
Dab peanut butter on to the back of the 'lady bug', then stick raisins onto the dabs for spots. Use this method to make eyes too. Stick one end of each pretzel stick into a raisin, then press the other end into the apples to make antennae.

Bumble Bees & Birds

Bumble Bee Craft- Go to www.coloring.ws/animals/hive.gif , then print, color & cut out hive with branch section and glue to a blue paper. Give the children many small oval yellow shapes to glue on and around the hive. Now having the kids press their thumb print onto an ink pad and then press thumb print onto oval bee shapes to form wings. Add stipes, antenas, eyes etc. with black pen. So Cute! Enjoy!

Science-Talk about where honey comes from and taste the honey from bees.
and: Sort bird eggs(jelly beans)by color into egg cartons. Count how many of each color?Then enjoy eating them!

Game/Dance-The Bird Dance
(To the tune: The Chicken Dance)
Play the music and have the children do the classic dance:
Make your hands like talking four times, flap arms like wings four times, wiggle bottom four times, clap Four times, do it again faster!!

Snack-Edible Bird nest with eggs.
Give each child a large rice crispy treat bar to mold into a nest, add precolored coconut for the grass in the nest and candy eggs. Kids really enjoy this! make sure you have wet wipes handy afterwards!
