- I've never had a real Christmas gift under the Christmas tree but I had instead a worst gift on 6th of December when we tradionally put gifts in boots and one time I get only a twig. Well, i think message was: "you're a very naughty child":

- Fun idea for a lens! I really can't think of any horrible gifts I've received (perhaps they were so bad I've blocked them from my memory). But now I'm dying to know who added the bag of flour to your plexo. Now, THAT's a really bad gift!

- Ha ha! This is hysterical. The worst (off the top of my head) was the time my brother gave me... socks. But not just socks. It was a big box. Inside was a slightly smaller box, then another, then another, then another (like nesting Russian dolls). All wrapped. After all that effort, I got SOCKS. Then there were the earrings made out of electrical parts of some kind. Well, at least those got originally points.

- We can't always judge a book by its cover. --- Once upon a time I got a book as a gift, The Four Agreements. Lovely self help book that I cherish. The thing is that the guy who gave me the book didn't live by any of the words of wisdom in the book. Then, I got this same book given to me by another guy for Christmas. I asked if he had read it, no he had not. Later, I found out that he too, did not live by any of the wisdom in the book. --- Its been years, but I still shake my head over this. I do laugh about it now, and still live by the four agreements.

- ROFLOL!!! Would you believe I received 4 irons as wedding gifts? Seriously! Irons! That is right up there with a Vacuum. However, I do use an iron and I did bring the last one out of the attic about 2 years ago. I was glad to have the replacement when needed, but as a new bride, ironing was not what was on my mind 27 years ago :)

- You've touched on a very delicate subject here. My dad and I have tried for days to figure out what my mom would like as a present, only to end up giving her the money and taking her out to choose what she wants.
The lists are incredibly amusing, especially the "gifts for men" one.
Great lens!

- The worst gift i ever received was, half of a race car track, my dad decided, back 30 years ago a thrift store was the place to buy a race car track, unfortunately he didn't bother to check the contents first, I opened the present and was excited, then realized something was very very wrong. only half the track was there, Honorable mention would go to a grab bag Christmas gift I received, {10 dollar limit} get this, A Box of Christmas cards , They weren't even Hallmark, it had the price on the box, 3 bucks ,ouch !

- I never understand why people buy me gift certificates for facials, etc. Who relaxes when a technician is pushing their products on you? I once got a haircut certificate and the woman ruined my hair. It took nearly a year for her crazy stair-step layers to grow out. I love cards ... gifts aren't necessary. And as you point out, they are often a burden to the recipient.

- I saw QUITE a few things on your lens that I've received and had to do the ol' fake smile and squirm. I especially dreaded the annual office party. My boss would give me clothing every year, and every year, I basically hated every piece and would have to figure out how to exchange it all. (She'd take off the tags.) I felt so badly, because she'd spend so much money on the stuff. So finally I just out and out had to tell her. She took it well, but still ... you're right. For the most part, don't buy people clothes.

- For ten years I got a bottle of Stetson for Christmas from my grandmother. Not lady stetson, but men's stetson. I never said a word, just smiled and quietly handed it to my husband. It wasn't until the first Christmas after our divorce that she finally found out... I took one look at it and burst into tears. The silly thing is, I miss that bottle of Stetson. Wonderful lens, humor is always good.

- Love the gifts for men - although you missed one - for some men, you could substitute "buy him anything for his car" with "buy him anything for his computer". I have had some pretty odd gifts before. It feels even worse when you can see it was not cheap at all, but is definitely not really going to be used.

- too funny!...my worst gift ever (poor DH...) he bought me the "tester" of lotion...from a dept.store and the cashier didn't even notice the HUGE "TESTER" sticker on the front...so when I opened it for Christmas what's the 1st thing I see?..."TESTER"...opened it up...and ewwwww...everyone had already had their hands in the lotion...LOL....1/2 of it was gone!...there's one for your list!
Thanks for the lensrolls...I'm rolling right back and for commenting on my Christmas gift guide...I would have added my Etsy shop (cause you can only add 1 shop) but Canadian shipping cut off for Christmas is quickly approaching and I don't need that pressure ;o)
Thanks Deb!...I still have to tagfoot...on the to do list!

- Ok, I'll get my dad some rope for Christmas. ;)
I think the secret to getting good gifts is to have hobbies you're passionate about and to let everybody know about them. I love wine and outdoorsy stuff and am always getting bottles of wine and gift certificates to REI for gifts. It's hard to shop for people who don't let you know what they love!

- Oooo, you hit two #1s from my lists-never give a household appliance gift to a woman (unless she ASKS for it specifically) and DO give a cordless drill to a man. My DH loses tools continually - he has now lost most of MY tools somewhere in the house, cellar, yard, workshop or garage. LOVE THIS LENS - 5*s.

- Hilarious lens! And the rules modules are too cool and so true. Probably one of my more uncool gift was the TENS unit that I got for Christmas -- and then he used it on his furry/hairy back. No thank you, it's yours now! My mother once received an electric shaver -- for her hairy legs from my stepfather. Glad you've written such a lens to help out the guys! 5*****

- "Do not buy a man any of those fancy liqueurs. If you
do, it will sit in a cupboard for 23 years. Real men drink
whiskey or beer."
I disagree! A real man will chase whatever swill you give him, as long as it's alcohol, with some hard alcohol or beer. Just kidding, I've had some putrid liquers sitting in my cabinet for a while too. Nice work!

- Hi Debnet, This really is a very interesting and also amusing lens, love it. Having looked at your other details and lenses it seems you have had a very interesting past with some great interests, in fact looking through your material you could almost be the female version of myself: I love F1 and most other motorsports come to that especially MotoGT and Superbikes. Big Brother is a great favorite too, your choice in music is also one of mine, in fact when I started reading your bits and bobs it was kind of weird in a good sort of way, plus I also live in the south of England.
Anyway I think this is an excellent lens and gave it 5 stars .
Wishing you every success
Kind Regards
Clive Anderson
