I Prefer Pressure Cooker

Pressure cooker vs slow cooker

I really love the pressure cooker mainly because it cooks food really fast. We're talking about minutes instead of hours. The slow cooker (also commonly known as Crock-Pot in the US or Slo-Cooker in the UK) also has its advantages, and those of you who like it better will have a chance to voice your opinion in a little bit.

I first learned about pressure cooking when I was a kid. My parents bought a new pressure cooker and my mom cooked fish with tomato sauce in it, and it was out of this world. The thing I liked the most was the fish bones became so tender that they were edible, and I didn't have to worry about swallowing a piece of bone. It was similar to canned sardines but much better.

When I was in college and living by myself, I bought my own pressure cooker and it really came in handy. When I wanted to prepare a meal all I had to do was put all the ingredients and spices together in the cooker, and in just a few minutes I would have a delicious hot meal.

Although they say it's safe to cook with a slow cooker unattended, I always feel uneasy about having an appliance running continuously while no one is home. When I am home, it's actually torture to smell the food all day without being able to eat it! :)
