Pressure Cleaners Lens - Introduction

This lens has been created to inform the general public about all things pressure cleaners. From the manufacturing industry, how they are made, what to look for in a pressure cleaner for your purposes and what companies are out there which sell these machines.

Pressure Cleaners - The Current State of the Industry

Pressure cleaners, sometimes also referred to as waterblasters, high pressure water cleaners, steam cleaners (in relation to hot water pressure cleaners), is an area of technology which has been dominated by the Italians with a strong manufacturing industry supporting this product category.

Some time ago, around 60 manufacturers of pressure cleaners existed in Italy which is by far the largest in the world. Recently, China has entered the market of manufacturing and now have many companies making pressure cleaners, most of the cloning machine made in Italy. While China has entered the pressure cleaner market quickly, the quality of the manufacturing process as well as the materials used are not the same as used in Italy.

The particular area of the pressure cleaner market that the Chinese machines have made a massive and credible entry into is the gasoline or petrol powered cold water pressure cleaners. While the developing Chinese market is lucrative due to the low manufacting costs, the pressure cleaners in this area of the market provide an affordable options compared to the smaller electric cleaners that do not match the quality of other manufacturers.

The Chinese market has yet to enter the hot water pressure cleaner market in large numbers, although their entry into the smaller cold water cleaners marker has seen mixed success in relation to reliability. The Hot Water pressure cleaner which basically heats it's own water in the unit after it has been pressurized, is a much more complicated unit than the much simpler, less complex cold water pressure cleaner. When quality control improves and the quality of steel is also improved, the Chinese machines will make very fast inroads into the Commercial/Industrial market of Hot Water Pressure Cleaners.

The pressure cleaner industry is enormous world wide, but there is no collaborative work done between companies leaving very little statistical data or joint manufacturing research and development. The larger companies are concerned about sharing technologies and sales figures, therefore have no immediate want for an all encompassing body. The other difficulty with obtaining statistics from the different companies is that not all of them concentrate on the same markets in the pressure cleaner industry. Some focus solely on the small electric machines for the domestic market, other solely on large machines for the industrial market while others manufacture for all markets.

Small electric pressure cleaners dominate the market share in Australia based on sales numbers. This could also be similar around the world, although as noted above, there are no statistical evidence to prove this.
