Meet The Presto SaladShooter, A Basic Kitchen Tool You Should Not Be Without

My Presto Saladshooter and I first met about five years ago. We were introduced at my cousin's home when we were tasked to work together to prepare supper. My cousin, Wil, handed me HIS Presto Saladshooter and said, "Here you go, YOU do the cheese."

One meeting was all it took and we (the saladshooter and I) knew it was love at first sight. I went home and purchased our very own Presto 02910 SaladShooter Electric Slicer Shredder and the love affair continues until this day with absolutely no disappointments or issues.

What Will The Presto Salad Shredder Do?

We use the shredder on a very regular basis for cheese since pizza is a Friday night staple at our house. As a matter of fact, ever since we have had the Presto Saladshooter, there has been no problem finding a volunteer to shred the cheese. (If only they were so keen to do the dishes!)

A less enticing but also regular use for our shredder is carrots. We shred them into our salads, for our muffins and once or twice a year for The Best-Ever Carrot Cake.

The Presto Salad Shooter will shred or slice quickly all the vegetables, fruits and cheese that you need. (I agree.)
The Presto Salad Shooter will shred ingredients one after the other, without being cleaned in the meantime. (Definitely.)
The Presto Salad Shooter will send the food right into your salad bowl, onto your pizza or into your soup. (We've sliced right into our salad bowl but who would have thought to shred right onto the pizza or into the soup pot!?! Brilliant!)
The Presto Salad Shooter has slicing and shredding cones which are easy to put on and to remove. (Yes, indeed, they are!)
The Presto Salad Shooter is safe in your dishwasher, at least the loose pieces. The motor is not. (Right again.)
The Presto Salad is compact at just 9-1/2 by 7 3-1/2 inches. We store ours neatly away in a rectangular Tupperware Modular Mate container (Perfect!)

"We laughed and laughed when we received this 'as seen on TV' slicing and, well, grating 'miracle product' as a gift. Who would actually use such a crazy thing? Well, it turns out that we would, frequently. It may not dice, but it does slice beautifully - thin and uniform, as well as grating everything from cheese to potatoes to carrots to ... you name it. We use it almost daily. If you're a vegetable eater or a cheese lover, you won't know how you lived without it. Easy to assemble and disassemble, and it's dishwasher safe, although you do have to position the parts correctly to maximize water flow and cleaning. You can do a fine or a coarse grate, a straight or a wavy slice...It does have some limitations. While it grates all kinds of cheeses (softer cheeses work best when chilled), it can't slice cheese at all. Nor does it slice onions, celery or other "stringy" vegetables well. It will grate them, though. Presto SaladShooter Replacement Parts

Shredding cheese is a challenging business. I broke my small food processor when shredding cheese.

I have not had to replace any of the parts on my Presto shredder, yet. I am aware that shredding cheese is stressful for the plastic cone and that eventually, it may break. It is good to know that replacement parts are readily available.
