Men With Long Hair: The Prettiest Hair Ever
Ranked #1,526 in Culture & Society, #34,114 overall
My Search For The Man With The World's Prettiest Hair:
It's no secret I have a passion for long haired men, I always have, and probably always will. Here is my list of the men with the best hair ever! And the story behind my obsession with long haired men and how I started liking them.
You see that guy in the picture beside these words? That guy and his pretty hair has caused me all sorts of trouble my entire life! But just look at his hair! OMG! He has the world's prettiest hair ever!
When I was about 5 years old, I remember seeing a magazine in the store, and I pointed it out to my mother and said "I want that guy's hair!" I had no idea who it was on the cover of the magazine. At 5 years old, you don't know too much about what you want in life, but the instant I saw the picture on the magazine I knew one thing and one thing only: that was the prettiest hair I had ever seen, and I wanted it! It would be about another 10 more years before I would ever see a picture of that same guy again. The next time I saw him, again on the cover of a magazine, I looked at him and said once again to my mom "OMG! It's that guy with the gorgeous hair! I want that guy's hair!" This time I picked up the magazine (Metal Edge) and flipped through it to find out who this guy was, and to get a better look at that really amazing hair he had, and still had all these years later.
I did not buy the magazine, and went about my day, and soon forgot about the guy with the amazing hair, including to forget what his name was!
For several more years, I told everyone, the same thing... I want that guy's hair. And I wished could remember who he was so I could look him up and show people who I was talking about. He was a singer from the 1970's I knew that much, cause I was 5 the first time I'd seen him, but without a name, no one knew who he was, so I realized something else, he either was not very famous, or he sang a style music that no one I knew listened too, because I didn't know any body who could figure out who he was. Both turned out to be true, as I would later find out he was not very popular, and he was a drag queen-esk glam rocking heavy metal punk singer, who an awful lot of people actually hated!
It's weird how things go about in life. The adults in my life were always telling me about the *evil singers* I shouldn't listen too. There were several names thrown around. Often in church I would heard about one really wicked guy who we should have nothing to do with, so dutiful little lamb that I was I avoided him at all costs. If one of those preachers had only shown me a picture of this evil singer they kept telling me not to listen too! WOW! I'd have gone head over heels and bought ever album in an instant just so I could have a bunch of pictures of his hair, because as it turned out, this evil singer I was avoiding and the gorgeous haired guy I was looking for were one in the same person and I didn't know it! LOL!
Well, still not knowing who this guy was, I asked a hair stylist how hard it would be to do that to my hair, trying to describe what it looked like, wishing I had bought that magazine so many years ago, I could show her a picture of what I meant. I described what his hair looked like, and the response I got, was a shocked: "You want to do WHAT! NO! NO! NO! You have such beautiful long straight black hair.... it won't take that kind of perm, and no way would I dare try to bleach it white... you'd risk losing it!"
Okay, so I still have my really long straight black hair, and I still had no idea the name of the guy, whose hair, I had literally fallen in love with. I want this guy's hair, so bad!
It would be another 12 years before I would find out the name of the guy whose hair I wanted. I found out, in December of 2007, nearly 30 years after the first time I'd seen a picture of him!
My 3 brothers came over one day to use my computer and they headed to YouTube, because they wanted me to hear this *really great* Christmas song they had found on YouTube, by a singer they purposely did not mention the name of. They just turned the video on (knowing that if they had mentioned his name, I would not listen to it) because they wanted me to see this really great singer I had been avoiding all these years.
They turned on YouTube, and start playing: "Oh Come All Ye Faithful" and OMG! there he was! The guy who's hair I've been wanting my whole life! My brothers listen to his music and I never knew it! And OMG! he was that *evil* singer preachers had told me not to listen too! It turns out, that the guy whose hair I'd gone completely crazy over, was Dee Snider, lead singer of Twisted Sister!
The lesson here?
LONG HAIR IS SEXY!
It can effect your whole life!
Don't Ever Forget It!

I Love Men With Long Hair!

EelKat Age 4 & Her First Long Haired Man
C*C*DeVille
My long standing favorite guy of all my favorite men, has been Bruce Anthony Johanneson since 1987. Though he is more commonly known by his stage name: C*C*DeVille, lead guitarist of the glam band Poison. As a teenager, I spent much of my time wearing whatever outfit it was that C*C* was wearing that year, with my hair colors changing to match his. His hair colors being every shade of pink, blue, or purple, that you could imagine. Naturally he's blond, usually though his hair was bleached out snow white and teased straight up to alarming heights. While my own hair never went white (no stylist would do it, being as my hair is so naturally dark, they always warned me that it would take 10 or 12 bleachings to lightening it that much, and 10 or 12 bleachings could do real bad damage to the roots, thus, my hair never went lighter than a copper-red), I did learn however that with a hairdryer and several bottles of Dep, I could make my hair stand straight up just like C*C*'s did, and so for many years, my hair *grew* up instead of down. :)
Today, 20 years later, C*C*DeVille, no longer has his amazing long hair, (OMG! he cut his hair!!!!) so the pictures of him here on this lens, are pretty old. And long hair or no, after 22 years I'm still a major fan of C*C*DeVille.

C*C*DeVille: EelKat's Favorite Long Haired Guy
C*C* DeVille in 2007
He cut his hair. :( But he's still my fave guy ever!
Alice Cooper

I think Alice was the first rock singer I ever saw. At about age 3, I started watching The Liberace` Show, and to this day remain a life long fan of Liberace`. It was because I was a fan of Liberace` that I became a fan of Alice Cooper . . . odd considering one is a classical pianist and the other is a death metal rocker. But here's how it happened:
Me watching The Liberace` show lead to me watching The Muppet Show, after Liberace` guest stared on The Muppet's. After that I watched the Muppet Show every week, and is wasn't long before an episode showed up that stared Alice Cooper. A half hour and 4 songs later, I was a fan of Alice Cooper and have been ever since.
My early fandom of Alice was touch and go and it wasn't until my late teens that I really became a big fan. After C*C*DeVille left Poison and vanished from the public eye, I started mimicking Alice instead, which was easier to do, seeing how my hair was a lot like his. I was quick to drop the pink glitter lipstick and blue eyeshadow C*C* wore, and replace it with black stage paint around my eyes and lips. And came head to head with church leaders who went all hooting-nanny the first time I came to church looking like Alice Cooper. Thing was, I was going to the Mormon church at the time, and well, Alice Cooper being a Mormon himself, I figured, if he can dress like that and be a Mormon, than, heck, I could too. And besides, it's just plain fun to aggravate church leaders! :)
I wonder if my liking long haired men has something to do with my growing up in the LDS church, where you pretty much are destined for hell if you are a man and have anything longer than a buzz cut. Long haired men were a very rare thing in my childhood and church leaders always called them *evil*. Must be my rebellious side showing through.
Alice Copper's Beautiful Black Hair!
Nightwish's Marco Tapani Hietala

Odd story behind this guy and how I started liking him. It all started in November of 2007 when I was bored had nothing to do and turned the TV on to see an amazing white haired dude chopping off someone's head. You know, it's a scary thought to realize I can go so crazy over I guy based totally on what he looks like, in spite of the fact that he's lashing off heads with a sword. No idea who he was. Show ended, with me having no idea what it was. I vaugley remembered seeing one of the other characters before in a comic book my brother read, so I asked him, what the show was and who the serial killing white dude was. My brother said, "Oh, that's InuYasha's older brother, can't remember his name."
Next thing I know I look up InuYasha to find out what it is and I end up on YouTube, and find some fan made vids all of which using songs from the same group, Nightwish, a group I had never heard of before. So while I'm looking to find out who the cartoon guy with butt length hair is, I end up finding a real guy with butt length hair: Marco Tapani Hietala, bass guitarist and male lead vocalist of the band Nightwish.
It's one thing to be a guy with long hair, it's another thing entirly to be a guy with butt length hair. That takes guts and a hellova lotta time spent brushing your hair... I know. So, while I love guys with long hair, I really love guys with butt length hair.
Marco Tapani Hietala
Lord Sessho Maru

And here he is... the evil white dude who has a passion for lopping off heads, and doing it without ever getting a spot of blood on his gleaming way past butt length nearly ankle length hair: Lord Sessho Maru.
And well... since I have 14 lens already where I do nothing but yap about how *great* this evil white dude is, I'll just leave you a link to those rather than do the same thing here, cause really, do I NEED a 15th lens about Lord Sesshomaru? (Of course I do!)
Did I mention I like guys with butt length hair?
Lord Sessho Maru (You knew he'd be here!)
Naraku: My Evil Twin
Never in my life have I ever come across anyone real or fictional, who could pass off as my double, not only for looking like me, but also for wearing the exact same cloths I do. Until I saw Naraku, that is.
Naraku is the evilest of all evils. Omigumo was a human mad with power, who gave his soul to a hoard of demons and became the evil demon Naraku, who's only goal is to find the most powerful beings in the world and absorb their power to become the most powerful demon of all... and to kill Kikyo of course... again... she didn't stay dead the first time he killed her.
When I was about 8 years old, my grandmother went to Japan, bringing back with her a beautiful blue kimono for me. I wore it ever and always with everything. I wore it as a kimono, as a slip under dresses, as a coat over tops & skirts, and I wore it every single day for the rest of my life: I'm still wearing it every single day, wearing it right now in fact.
About 5 years ago, an old man (must have been in his 90's) came up to me and said: "You look like someone who would wear this." He than handed me a beautiful purple kimono covered with white cranes, and told me it was a gift. To this day I have no idea who that man was or why he gave me the kimono. Apparently it was because I was already wearing a kimono, in a place where kimono are unheard of and unseen.
Anyways from that day forth, my wardrobe consisted of me wearing the old blue kimono as a najuban under the new purple kimono.
And for the last 5 years, I have gotten comments about my CosPlaying a character who I had never heard of. It wasn't until I started watching InuYasha in November of 2007, that I realized why folks thought I was CosPlaying this guy named Naraku: This guy has super long slightly wavy black hair just like mine, and he wears a blue najuban under a purple kimono covered in white cranes! OMG! Looking at Naraku is like looking in the mirror!
Fortunately this is a guy I can say I love his hair, and I don't have to say I want his hair, because I already have it!

Naraku: My Evil Twin ? He has my hair! And my cloths! Or is it the other way around? EelKat & Naraku look & dress so much alike
Professor Severus Snape

A year ago Snape would have been ranked above Sesshomaru, though that would have been because I had yet to *meet* Sesshomaru a year ago.
There's a story behind my liking Snape too. When Harry Potter came out, I had absolutely no interest in it what so ever. From what people were saying it sounding more than boring. Of course, not knowing what the series was about, lead to me having no idea why people were running up to me on the street and hugging me for no reason at all, and than telling me how they were a fan too. Well, that's nice... and fan of what exactly? Than I was subjected to a gushing on of how much they loved this character and that character and how great it was to see other fans who dressed like them in public. Me? I was clueless. Had no idea who these characters were or how it was that these people thought I was CosPlaying them, when all I was doing was wearing my normal street cloths (very Medieval robes btw).
My worst day ever, was the day I walked into a local bookstore the release day of one of the Harry Potter books, and was mobbed by Harry Potter fans who told me I *had the best wizard costume they'd ever seen*. They were so glad I came to opening day.
What? Opening day? Honey, I have no idea what you folks are talking about.
Aren't you a fan of Harry Potter?
Who?
Harry Potter?
Never heard of him.
But your costume...
What costume?
You're wearing a Harry Potter wizard costume?
I am?
Yes, and its the best one I've ever seen, it looks so real, and not at all like a costume!
That's because it is real, and I'm not wearing a costume, these are my regular cloths, I've bee dressing like this for 20 years now.
Really?
Really.
Oh.
Well, this was all before the Harry Potter movies had come out.
My brother had heard about the movie being made, so read Harry Potter planning to go to the movie and look for mistakes. It's a hobby me and my 3 brothers have: read the book, inside out and backwards and than watch the movie and complain about every mistake the movie made. (This explains my essays comparing InuYasha the book to InuYasha the show, btw.)
So he reads Harry Potter, we go together to watch the movie, and I'm vaugely interested, until Alan Rickman walks on screen and than Harry Potter had my full attention, and after seeing the movie I went home and borrowed my brother's book.
After reading volume one, I was quick to jump into volume two, followed by three, and than rabidly await for the release of four.
Had anyone other than Alan Rickman played Snape, I probably would not have become a fan of the movies, and would never have read the books. (Was fan of Alan Rickman before was fan of Snape = is fan of Snape because Snape is Alan Rickman, a gorgeous guy with a voice to die for!) And well, we all 4 of us found one mistake that stand out for this lens: Snape's hair. In the book he is teased constantly for his hair, which it a very long and very wild unruly mess which he hasn't washed in years. In the movie, however, Snape has gorgeous hair.
Twice now in my rabid serial book reading, I have come up against an author who tormented my favorite character. First Rowling slaughters Snape, than Rumiko breaks Sesshomaru's heart. The curse of falling for the bad guy is when the book ends the bad guys never get a happily ever after. :(

P.S. Sorry, for those who have not yet read the book and didn't know she killed off Snape, now you know, he did not make it to the end and I was not happy about it. I demand a rewrite!

Prof. Snape
Jakotsu & Bonkotsu

You can't like the InuYasha series and not like at least one of the evil brothers who make up The Band of Seven. Me? I like two of them: Jakotsu & Bonkotsu.
I don't actually know how long Jakotsu hair is, as he keeps it tied up on a double bun on top of his head, but you do have to have pretty long hair, to get that much of it up on top like that. Jakotsu got his heart ripped out by Sesshomaru (YAY!) but seeing how he was already dead to begin with, the fact that Sessh run his hand straight through the guy's chest didn't seem to faze Jakotsu at all, as he only responded to tell Sessh what a gorgeous guy he was. Weird.
Bonkotsu has the longest hair of anyone in the series. When I braid my hair it looks a good 8 inches shorter. This guy, has his long hair braided and it's still longer that Sesshomaru's, so upbraided, it's a safe bet that it drags on the ground.

Jakotsu & Bonkotsu
Koga

My second fave Inu character (after Sesshomaru). How can anyone not like Koga? Okay, so here's the guy who killed Rin, and Sessh will kill him next time he sees him, but that was when Koga made his debut in the series and back than he was a villain, and over time he became one of the good guys, just so he could piss-off InuYasha. Gotta love a smart alic like him. If it wasn't for Koga the show wouldn't be half as funny as it is either.
But on topic here: look at that amazing hair he's got!
(Did you notice how InuYasha himself is never seen on any of my lenses? He's like the star of the series, and the only guys I ever notice are the villains!)

Koga Running off with Kagome (again)
Marco Tapani Hietala (heard not seen) & Every Inu Bad Guy Under The Sun: Sessh, Naraku, Bankotsu, Jakotsu, Koga, & Hakudoshi!
There's about 20 different long hair guys seen in this one!
Jon Bon Jovi

There is an odd story here, that deserves telling, and just goes to show that when a guy cuts his hair he could lose his fans. 0.O
Once upon a time I was a teenager who, along with a million other teenagers in the 1980's, went crazy over Jon Bon Jovi. *You Give Love a Bad Name* was my favorite song for some time, or at least until I heard *Bad Medicine* and than that became my favorite song. And though I was mimicking C*C*DeVille in cloths and hair, I spent a lot more time blasting Bon Jovi on the boombox, than I did Poison.
Several copies of big hit albums, on record, tape, and cd gathered on my book shelves, whille one entire wall of my room was wallpapered floor to ceiling with pictures of Jon. (The other 3 walls and the ceiling itself were devoted to C*C*DeVille whom I had more than 300 posters of, all on my walls all at once! *cough*all of which I still have, many of which are still on the walls*cough* was/is bigger fan of C*C* than is of Sesshomaru)
It was one of my more notable obsessions, to the point that most of my friends and family thought Bon Jovi (and not C*C*DeVille) was my favorite person in the entire world. And than over night, it disappeared.
BAM! Over night the posters came down, the albums got put away and it was like Jon Bon Jovi had never existed. And everyone who knew me, wondered, want in the world had just happened.
My answer shocked them all, and it was quite simple: "He cut his hair."
Yes, I stopped listening to Bon Jovi the day he cut his hair. I actually protested him cutting his hair. Why? No idea. I was what, 14? 15? at the time? Something like that. I was just mad at him for cutting his beautiful hair. Now granted I didn't stay mad at him for long, because once his next album came out, I was right there to buy it, and I remain today a fan of Jon Bon Jovi.

Ann R says:
Hell yes, I met Dee S. when I worked at Heathrow airport and he passed my shop several times and when I finally got to go and talk to him he was lovely guy, very appreciative of fans. My favourite guys are all rockers: David Coverdale (first concert), Ian Gillan, Phil Lynott and a lovely man called Neville Mcdonald from a band called Skin. If you want younger guys then check out Matt and Phil pics and vids on VibeforPhilo.com. Like you I kinda knew especially from the age of 13/14 that long haired guys were my sexual preference, however my husband has short hair as it looks silly long.:-( Our 18 yr old son has long hair and is such a cutie but some people keep trying to get him to be "normal" and have short hair.grrr At the moment my favourite fantasy guy is Matt Smith (Dr Who) whose hair is floppy rather than long which I would love him to have really long hair and that beard that he sometimes has in the show should be real. :-) Guys with long hair are different and often get bullied or teased and I have been quite shocked that some guys I used to know succumbed to cutting their hair for their girlfriends/wives as I think that if you love someone then you should not pressure them to change. If I see a guy with long hair I immediately smile and flirt. LOL just cannot help myself even if I have no intention of approaching or taking it further as I am happily married/faithful.

Ever since my boyfriend and I started dating, I realized that I have a fetish for long hair. His hair is of middle length, blonde, slightly wavy and very thick. Honestly, I'm a little envious of him and every long-haired male out there. It takes a lot of guts for them to grow it out...

- My ex husband had long hair when we first together. I thought it looked pretty cool. I grew up in the seventies, so lots of men had long hair in my world. 5*

- I'm not into Dee Snider's hair, but I am a big time fan of his music from back in the day!
