Primal Eating

It seems like there is a new rage brewing in the health world these days, and that is primal eating. Primal eating is, in a nutshell, eating only foods that the early humans would eat. If it was around 10,000 years ago, primal eaters will eat it. If not, well then, they will leave it for 99% of the rest of the population.

What's There to Eat

Flickr Photo by fifikinsIf you're eating primal, you are mainly eating plants and animals. Humans are omnivores, so we are meant to eat both plants and animals. Primal eaters try to feed themselves as humans were created to be fed.

So what's types of things are on a primal eater's menu? These things:

Meat (all kinds)
Fish (all kinds)
Vegetables
Most fruits
Nuts
Eggs
Spices
Derivatives from these sources (i.e. coconut milk, almond butter, etc.)

Those are the basics of the primal menu. And what is there to drink?

Water.

And sometimes tea.

And that's pretty much it. It is a very simple diet, but that doesn't mean there aren't ways to be creative with primal eating. There are hundreds of great healthy recipes that can be created solely from primal source. And they can taste every bit as good as traditional recipes, just without the bad stuff.

What's Not on the Primal Menu

The following foods are strictly off-limits to primal eater:

Breads, Pastas, Grains of all kinds
Processed foods
Pasteurized dairy products
Added sugars

Hardcore primal eaters will also eliminate caffeine and alcohol.

Benefits of Primal Eating

There are a number of great benefits for eating the primal way. For one, it will cleanse and keep clean your insides. A lot of foods in your typical Western diet will create storage of toxins and harmful bacteria (fungi) in your gut and fat tissue. This will not only lead to weight gain, it will also cause many healthy problems over time. Just about any disease imaginable has some links to poor diet habits.

Primal eating eliminates these nutritional concerns by only feeding the body foods that it wants and needs. The body can easily process and digest these foods, thus the body will be able to stay clean on the inside. All processes and systems will be able to run at maximum effectiveness and you will look and feel great.

Weird or Simply Healthy?

Flickr photo by ryemangA lot of people find the primal diet to be weird and overly restrictive. They feel like they will not be able to enjoy life while eating in this way. They feel you have to be weird to eat this way, as it is not normal human behavior.

Actually, it is normal human behavior if you look at humans over all the years since the earliest days.

The problem is, we have become conditioned to believe that the typical Western diet is "normal". We feel that anything else is "weird". We believe that we were meant to eat things like bread and pasta, and not doing so will make us miserable. We are used to eating this way, so anything different lies out of our comfort zone.

Primal eating is not weird. It is a very healthy way to live. It does not have to be boring. It is the safest and most effective way to improve your healthy through nutrition.

So if you want get the healthiest body you have possibly have, I highly recommend eating the way the earliest humans ate.
