I went to Prime’s 3 day orientation in October of 2008. Everyone at Prime was friendly and helpful during orientation. I passed my driving test and made 100’s on my written tests and watched their training/safety videos. Everything was good to go and I was waiting for my trainer to pick me up. Unexpectedly, I got a call from my dad that my grandma “whom I was close to” passed away. I was in a tough spot, but was able to get my old job back and make to my grandma’s funeral. I plan on going back to Prime in April of 2010, go thru the 3 day orientation again, then head out with my trainer. From doing my research, Prime seems to pay the most at .12 cpm or $600 a week running 5000 miles a week during training, then .30 to .31 cpm driving the reefer when I’m solo. I’ve looked at FFE, Swift, Werner, Stevens, CR England “all the break-in companies” and they can’t seem to beat the beginners pay that Prime offers. If I give 100%, I’m sure Prime will give me 100%. Oh, btw, I talked to my old recruiter from the GATS 2009 and she told me to give her a call when I'm ready to come aboard. Thanks Stephanie!

I am thinking about going to Prime to get my class A.. I have been online looking at other companies and Prime seems to me, to have the best reviews. I have had class B for 11yrs. Hauling explosives. Got laid off in Jan due to the bad economy and buisness was to slow. Will that be a problem for me tryn to get in there program?

prime is a great company to keep there trucks and equipment up better than any i've seen.
i drove and trained with them , psycho training we called it. i had a trainer that knew how to make more money bye keeping me out for as long as possible to make more money before i got my CDL. where as he would then have to start paying me weekly, not maybe primes fault. - then after 4-5 trainers crazy isn't it. i got my own truck.
then the dispatcher nightmare, they should have to be a driver for at least 6 months
sales or someone should learn to do their job = maybe ask a few questions before they send you the load = well i still think their a good company, and good trucks

this is a very good company for getting trianing you need then when you pass your test you are automaticly hired by the company but to let you know this trianing is for serious people if you don't give 100% u will not pass and they will send you home so think very hard about what you want to do i pass the very first time i gave 100% you are away from home during traning for at least 2 mounths so think before going it is a career choice not just a job

My ex brother in law has worked for PAM trucking and said it sucked. He rarely was home after they told him he could be home 2 weekends out of the month. Never seen that. When his son was about 3 yrs old he ended up in the hospital do to automobile accident and did not know if his son was going to make it, PAM trucking didn't get him home in time. If there is an emergency at home they should be able to get you there ASAP. What kind of company would you call that? Is that something anyone would want to work for? Not me that is for sure!! I am for all the truck drivers no matter what company they drive for because with out truck drivers America would stop!! Not saying all companies are good though.... You need to call get all the info and find out for yourself!! I STRONGLY BELIEVE PRIME IS NUMBER 1!! Read the comment I wrote about my dad and Prime..wink wink

Unfortunately my dad don't work for Prime anymore do to him being dignosed with brain and lung cancer 9/1/09. He has drove for Prime for almost 10 years. He never complained about the company. (maybe about some of the dispatchers but you get that anywhere) Prime is a very understanding company. If you have not drove for Prime or called to set up an appointment to meet with them, then please don't talk down on Prime!! Til this day they call and check on my dad and they keep in contact with him. And Prime works with you but you have to be opened and up front with them, Matter of fact I have called 2 of the dispatchers that my dad has had and they called him Tuesday after his brain surgery to see how he was!! TELL ME WHAT COMPANY IS MORE CONCERNED AND UNDERSTANDING THAN PRIME. So if you go by what you hear then you won't get anywhere in life. Try things for yourself before you judge a company or someone or something.....KEEP ON TRUCKING, TRUCKERS!! TRUCKERS ARE AMERICA #1

I have been with Prime just under 2 years and unfortunately have just given them notice. I made good money last year, this year has been tough and there is now just too much big brother. They are way too set on telling us how to run our business. I consider myself a more of a glorified company driver. Soon the IRS will crack down on lease operators because they are not 1099 status.

I have driven for Prime for over 7 years, i have over ONE MILLION MILES, and i LOVE it!! With 24 hr support from dispatch and road assist, it is very easy to get my job done. I cant even imagine working for another BIG company. Unlike some larger carriers, at Prime, its family! Anybody, can walk right up and talk to the OWNER, call him by his first name and ask a question, and get an awnser. Keep up the good work Prime!!
