Official Announcement of the Engagement of Prince Wiliam and Kate Middleton:

On 16 November 2010, the office of the Prince of Wales, at Clarence House, announced that Middleton and Prince William intend to marry in 2011.

Well the formal announcement was finally made about the engagement of Prince William and Kate Middleton!

Prince William and Kate Middleton are engaged, Britain's royal family announced Tuesday, with a wedding on April 29th 2011, at Westminster Abbey.

William, second in line for the British throne after his father, Charles, also formally sought permission from his future father-in-law to marry Kate.

Prince William and Kate - A love story:

The college romance that seemed to wilt under the pressure of adulthood and the glare of the paparazzi has blossomed at last.

Prince William is finally engaged to his longtime girlfriend and will give Britain its biggest royal wedding since Prince Charles married Lady Diana Spencer almost 30 years ago.

The couple, now both 28, met when they were both sharing accommodation while studying at the St. Andrews University in Fife, Scotland in 2001.

They shared a house along with other students in the seaside university town, where William initially studied art history before switching to geography. St. Andrews has a reputation as "Britain's top matchmaking university."

In 2002, William paid 200 pounds to sit in the front row at a charity fashion show where Kate was modeling in a daring outfit. They are thought to have started dating the next year.

A wealthy commoner rather than an aristocrat, Kate Middleton is the daughter of self-made millionaires. She attended Marlborough College, an elite private school, where she played tennis and field hockey, before studying art history at St. Andrews.

The couple's relationship became public with a joint photo on a Swiss skiing holiday in 2004. Kate then became a media darling - especially after both graduated, which ended a British media agreement to leave William alone while he was at university.

William's army training kept them apart, said some. The media pressure was too much for her, said others. Still others murmured that senior courtiers felt Kate's 's middle-class background wasn't royal material.

Kate was there when William was commissioned as a British Army officer after graduating from Sandhurst military college in 2006. She was photographed attending public events, going to work, even getting a parking ticket - a level of attention that evoked the romance of William's parents. William was determined that she would not suffer the same media hounding endured by his mother Princess Diana, who died in a Paris car crash in 1997.

William proposed during a vacation in Kenya last month, and gave Kate the engagement ring once worn by his late mother, an oval blue sapphire surrounded by diamonds from the jeweler Garrard.

"This was my way of making sure that my mother didn't miss out on today," William said as the couple posed for photographers in the state apartments at St. James' Palace.

Despite spending around 8 years together as a couple, there have been some cooling off periods as well. Prince William and Kate broke up in April of last year, just when the media was also predicting a future marriage for the couple.

In some ways it is probably best that the couple have been together so long, and gotten all these break-ups out of the way well before they got engaged, so there is little chance of breaking up after they marry.

The couple started dating again this past summer, according to reports. Just recently photos have appeared of the two together at nightclubs. They also were seen together at Camilla's birthday celebration. This announcement is a relief to all royal watchers, ending years of rumored splits, reconciliations and will-they, won't-they speculation.

For those of us who watched the wedding of Charles & Di, and followed the bitter breakdown of their marriage, we all wanted joy to come into the lives of the young Princes when they grew up and started dating. Like so many others I have kept an eye on their relationships, and it seemed to me that William had found a 'keeper' when he started seriously dating Kate Middleton. My only bemusement has been why it has taken so long to get around to taking this next step.

Wills & Kate: BFF?

Kate said in her interview the day of the announcement of the engagement, that she was so shy about meeting William the first time that she basically just blushed bright red and ran away. Then William was not at home for the first week or so, so it took a while for them to actually get to know each other.

But Kate then also said that they got along very well right from the start, so it looks like things were going on long before the world caught on to it!

Also in this interview, William and Kate admitted to having spoken about the prospect of marriage quite a lot during the course of their relationship. They admit to have spent the last year (or longer) discussing the engagement and the future, so Kate would be prepared.

The couple wanted to wait until William was finished with his RAF training, so they could focus on the future together.

On giving up her 'normal' life to live a life in the public eye, William mentions, "I really want to make sure they [Kate's family] have the best sort of guidance and chance to see what life has been like or what life is like in the family, and that's kind of almost why I have been waiting this long, As I wanted to give her a chance to see in and to back out if she needed to before it all got too much."

William claims that the two of them discussed marriage at length, and it truly was a matter of "when" not "if" as the press have said for years!

The engagement of Britain's second-in line to the throne has been widely anticipated. There has been plenty of speculation in the British media in recent months that an engagement was imminent since couple have been together for most of the past eight years.

Few were surprised by the news. Kate and William's engagement was the safest bet in Britain, an event so certain that bookies had stopped taking bets on a 2011 wedding.

"Kate has been waiting for so long, I expected her to find someone else," said London tour guide Gabrielle Sullo, 53. "The media had called her 'Waitey Katie,' so it's about time that she stopping waiting."

Kate will set a new precedent in the royal family as the first 'commoner' to marry a Royal Prince, but will not be without a title for very long!!

It is customary for royal men to receive a dukedom when they marry - the suggested dukedoms are the Dukedom of Clarence, Dukedom of Cambridge, Dukedom of Connaught or Dukedom of Sussex; Kendal, Avondale, and Strathearn have all also been mooted.

As the wife of a royal duke and prince, Middleton would assume the courtesy title of duchess as well as the style of Her Royal Highness.

If William is not given a dukedom or some lower title in his own right, she would be known as "Her Royal Highness Princess William of Wales", the female equivalent to her future husband's title. Should William become Prince of Wales, Kate will revert to the female equivalent of the title.

Finally, should William succeed to the throne, it is assumed that Kate will become Queen Consort.

** Update **
The Queen has bestowed, among others, the title of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge on the newlyweds. I suspect though that he will remain known to us by Prince Wills, but maybe Kate will quickly change to her correct name of Catherine in respect to her and the Palace's wishes

Rustic (but romantic?) Venue for Prince William's marriage proposal to Kate:

This is not quite the glamorous and romantic venue that most women would hope for - Wills... have you ever heard of Paris, ala TomKat?

The couple became engaged in October 2010 in Kenya, East Africa, during a 10-day trip to the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy to celebrate William's passing his RAF helicopter search and rescue course.

The vacation fueled media speculation that the two would soon become engaged.

While in Kenya, the future King and Queen stayed with friends in a Maasai lodge called Il Ngwesi - a very rustic retreat located in a savannah north of Mount Kenya. The Maasai lodge that the couple stayed in costs approximately £500 ($800) per night.

While details about the actual proposal have been kept private, it is assumed that William and Kate took a helicopter ride to the top of Mount Kenya, Africa's second largest mountain, and proposed at sunset by a secluded lake.

William carried his mother's engagement ring around in his rucksack for 3 weeks prior to popping the question - wanting to be prepared when the perfect moment presented itself.

Prince William asked his long-term girlfriend to marry him in an isolated log cabin miles off from the beaten track.

The pair were enjoying a 24-hour stop over at the spartan Rutundu Log Cabins during their Kenyan holiday when the Prince popped the question.

Far from the opulence of the Royal residences back home, the cabin does not even have electricity and guests are advised to bring all their own food and drink.

It was reported that Prince William asked Kate to be his wife on the veranda of their cabin. The pair then enjoyed a bottle of champagne - kept cool in the outdoor 'fridge' - a wooden cupboard, before tucking into a meal prepared by the resort staff.

Before retiring to their four-poster bed, the pair are said to have snuggled happily in front of a roaring fire.

About the proposal itself, William said, "I'd been planning it for a while but as every guy out there will know it takes a certain amount of motivation to get yourself going. So I was planning it and then it just felt really right out in Africa."

Princess Di Engagement Ring Now on Kate's Finger!

Prince William Gave Kate Diana's Engagement Ring!

Diana's Engagement Ring Caught Prince Harry's Eye First

The dazzling sapphire ring that Prince William gave to Kate Middleton for their engagement famously belonged to his mother Diana. Less well known is that it was Prince Harry who first picked it out as a memento to keep after her death.

Following the Paris car crash that killed Diana in 1997, the brothers picked out special objects of hers at Kensington Palace. The sapphire caught Harry's eye, and he took possession of it - though the brothers reportedly agreed that whoever got engaged first would use it.

The ring holds immense meaning for both men, who clearly dismiss any notion that it might be cursed in some way, given the collapse of their parents' marriage and their mother's untimely death.

The sapphire engagement ring that Kate Middleton now wears is typical of European engagement rings.

Diamonds were never as popular in Europe as they are in the United States and Diana's future sister-in-law, Sarah Ferguson (who married around the same time), received a ruby when she became engaged to Prince Andrew.

Sapphires are symbolic of the heavens--and the ruby symbolizes the heart!

Princess Di was proposed to without a ring!

Apparently Prince Charles initially proposed without an engagement ring, insisting that Diana consider the implications of the role of his wife before accepting.

Once she agreed she selected her ring right out of the Garrard Jewelry catalog which shocked many people including the Queen.

Diana choose an oval blue sapphire engagement ring that weighed in at an astounding 18 ct and was surrounded by 14 small diamonds in an elegant cluster setting.

* Band: gold
* Style: Solitaire
* Shape: Oval
* Diamond cut: Signature Ideal (SI)
* Diamond clarity: FL
* Diamond color: D
* Carat weight: 18

Most royals had their rings custom designed for a fortune, but this one was considered a bargain at only $65,000

Kate wearing Princess Diana's engagement ring

Lady Di engagement ring... romantic gesture, or in poor taste?

What is Your Opinion on this?

Both Princes have deep sentimental connections to this beautiful ring. But there is no getting away from the tragedy of both the failed marriage, and the early death of their mother, Lady Di.

Some people feel the ring might be symbolically burdened with the weight of the past, and that perhaps a fresh start would have been more appropriate.

So far the votes are mostly in favour with a big vote for YES --- but as of the wedding day, there are still over 20% of our voters who think Prince William should have instead chosen another engagement ring for his Princess.

Close friend to Princess DI, Elton John had the comment: "It is none of my business, but I thought it was a little odd."

Their Engagement Interview Transcript

This transcript is of the ITV's Tom Bradby, who scooped the interview of the year yesterday - he met with newly engaged Prince William and Kate Middleton to discuss the proposal, the ring, and the relationship.

Tom Bradby: People are obviously very curious about you, so let's start with the obvious. William, where did you propose, when, how. And Kate, what did you say?

Prince William: It was about three weeks ago on holiday in Kenya. We had a little private time away together with some friends and I just decided that it was the right time really. We had been talking about marriage for a while so it wasn't a massively big surprise. I took her up somewhere nice in Kenya and I proposed.

Kate Middleton: It was very romantic. There's a true romantic in there.

Bradby: So you said yes, obviously?

Kate: Of course, yes.

William: Absolutely.

Bradby: And you knew you were going to do this from day one of the holiday or you waited until the end?

William: I'd been planning it for a while but as every guy out there will know it takes a certain amount of motivation to get yourself going. So I was planning it and then it just felt really right out in Africa. It was beautiful at the time. I just - I had done a little bit of planning to show my romantic side.

Bradby: Kate, you'd been on holiday a while so did you see this coming, was he getting a bit nervous and jumpy?

Kate: No, not at all because we were out with friends and things so I really didn't expect it all. I thought he might have maybe thought about it, but no. It was a total shock when it came, and very excited.

Bradby: And produced a ring there and then?

Kate: Yes.

Bradby: There and then?

William: I did, yes. I had been carrying it around with me in my rucksack for about three weeks before that and I literally would not let it go, everywhere I went I was keeping hold of it because I knew this thing, if it disappeared I would be in a lot of trouble and because I'd planned it, it went fine. You hear a lot of horror stories about proposing and things going horribly wrong - it went really, really well and I was really pleased she said yes.

Bradby: And it's a family ring?

William: It is a family ring, yes. It's my mother's engagement ring. So I thought it was quite nice because obviously she's not going to be around to share any of the fun and excitement of it all - this was my way of keeping her sort of close to it all.

Bradby: I guess we better have a look at it. What kind of ring is it, are you an expert on what's -[cut off]

William: I'm not an expert on it at all. I've been reliably informed it's a sapphire with some diamonds. I'm sure everyone recognizes it from previous times.

Kate: It's beautiful.

Bradby: Kate, you're going to be the envy of many.

Kate: Well, I just hope I look after it. It's very, very special.

William: If she loses it she's in big trouble.

Bradby: Now it has to be said, you both look incredibly happy and relaxed.

William: We are. We are. We're like sort of ducks, very calm on the surface with little feet going under the water. But uh no, it's been really exciting because we've been talking about it for a long time so for us, it's a real relief and it's really nice to be able to tell everybody. Especially for the last two or three weeks it's been quite difficult not telling anyone, and keeping it to ourselves for reasons we had to. And it's really nice to finally be able to share it with everyone.

Bradby: And you obviously have kept it a secret. So when did you ask Kate's dad and what did he say and what did your respective parents say when you told them?

William: Well, I was torn between asking Kate's dad first and then the realization that he might actually say 'no' dawned upon me. So I thought if I ask Kate first then he can't really say no. So I did it that way round. And I managed to speak to Mike sort of soon after it happened really and then it sort of happened from there.

Bradby: Kate, what did your mum say?

Kate: I think as any mother would be she was absolutely over the moon. And actually we had quite an awkward situation because I knew and I knew that William had asked my father but I didn't know if my mother knew. So I came back from Scotland and my mother made it sort of %u2026 didn't make it clear to me whether she knew or not so both of us were there sort of looking at each other and feeling quite awkward about it. But it was amazing to tell her and obviously she was very happy for us.

Bradby: One of the things that has been clear for a long time is you very evidently have a close-knit family and family's very important to you.

Kate: Yes. It's very important to me you know. And I hope we will be able to have a happy family ourselves. Because it's been %u2026they've been great over the years - helping me with difficult times. We see a lot of each other and they are very, very dear to me.

Bradby: People are bound to ask you know. It's a bit of an obvious question but, children, do you want lots of children? You, know see what comes? What's your..?

William: I think we'll take it one step at a time. We'll sort of get over the marriage first and then maybe look at the kids. But obviously we want a family so we'll have to start thinking about that.

Bradby: When did you first set eyes on each other and what did you think?

William: Going back to the start because I think people as I say will be very curious about the totality of your relationship. When did you first set eyes on each other and what did you think?

Bradby: Kate, what did you think of William. I mean it's clearly not quite the same as meeting your average you know university student, or maybe it was, I don't know. But what was your first impression?

Kate: Well I actually think I went bright red when I met you and sort of scuttled off, feeling very shy about meeting you. But um, actually William wasn't there for quite a bit of the time initially, he wasn't there for Freshers Week, so it did take a bit of time for us to get to know each other but we did become very close friends from quite early.

Bradby: There's a story that goes around that you had a picture of him on your wall.

William: There wasn't just one, there was about 20.

Kate: He wishes. No, I had the Levis guy on my wall, not a picture of William, sorry.

William: It was me in Levis honestly.

Bradby: So you lived %u2026 you ended up sort of in the same flat, was that if you don't mind me asking, was before you were going out or?

William: No we moved in together as friends because we were living together, we lived with a couple of others as well, and it just sort of blossomed from there really. We just saw more of each other, and you know hung out a bit more and did stuff. So um yeah.

Kate: You liked the cooking.

William: Well your cooking is alright. (Kate laughs) It's gotten better.

Bradby: Does William ever cook or indeed do anything useful around the house?

William: Define useful, Tom. (Laughing)

Bradby: Let's not go there.

Kate: No he does actually. He did cook for me quite a bit at university, and he would always come with a bit of angst and a bit of anger if something had gone wrong and I would have to wander in and save something that was going.

Bradby: So being honest is that a skill that's declining over time or improving?

William: I would say I'm getting better at cooking. Kate would say I'm getting a lot worse.

Kate: I don't give him enough chance to practice.

William: No, that is true. I get quite lazy about cooking because when I come back from work it is the last thing I want to do, really is spend loads of time cooking. When I was trying to impress Kate I was trying to cook these amazing fancy dinners and what would happen was I would burn something, something would overspill, something would catch on fire and she would be sitting in the background trying to help, and basically taking control of the whole situation, so I was quite glad she was there at the time.

Bradby: Slightly awkward for the other flatmates?

William: No, to be honest they were used to it, watching things catching fire, they found it very amusing.

Bradby: But I mean having the two of you going out in the flat, or did they just not bat an eye lid?

William: I think at first they were a bit surprised that it had happened, then they realized it was really nice and it was good fun and we got on really well, they were good friends of ours as well so we had a good giggle with them as well.

Bradby: Now I suppose a lot of people are going to wonder, the first meeting with the families, again, not necessarily your average meeting. Kate what was your first impression of the family?

Kate: Well I was quite nervous about meeting William's father, but he was very, very welcoming, very friendly, so yea it couldn't have gone easier really for me.

Bradby: Meeting the grandmother, the Queen, again not like your average meeting with a grandmother, were you nervous about that too?

Kate: I first met her at Peter and Autumn's wedding and again it was amongst a lot of other guests and she was very friendly and no it was fine.

William: She was very welcoming, she knew it was a big day and everything was going on with Peter and Autumn, she wanted to meet Kate for a while, so it was very nice for her to come over and say hello and have a little chat.

Did You Know?

That the wedding date April 29 is St. Catherine's Day.

St. Catherine of Siena is a European patron saint.

Kate will be known as Catherine now she is a royal.

Planning the Royal Wedding:

Before the reign of Queen Victoria (1837-1901), royal weddings were secret affairs.

Official Engagement PortraitThey were usually held at night and in private with only a few, close family members present. Royal weddings were considered much too sacred to be witnessed by the public.

Queen Victoria made the decision that she and her Prince Albert would marry in the middle of the day. She wanted her people to be a part of the celebration.

Queen Victoria was only 20 years old when she asked her beloved Prince Albert to marry her. According to The Royal Marriages Act of 1772, all royal marriages were required to be sanctioned by the sovereign (the act is still in effect), but Victoria was the sovereign and as young and inexperienced as she was, she asked no one's permission or advice.

Besides changing the very nature of the royal wedding, Queen Victoria is also the reason that brides wear white bridal gowns nowadays.

On the arm of her Uncle, looking beautiful, stately and elegant, she was dressed in white satin rather than the customary silver worn by her predecessors.

It set a precedent in bride's wearing white wedding gowns and began a tradition that is still with us today!

The Royal Wedding Day will also be a public holiday in Britain

Britain WILL get bank holiday to enjoy a day of national celebration for William and Kate's wedding day, says Cameron

Britain is to be given a day off work for Prince William's wedding to Kate Middleton.

David Cameron has declared it will be a bank holiday so the country can enjoy a 'day of national celebration'.

If the wedding is held on a Saturday, workers will have either the Friday or the Monday off as well.

The couple have already given their backing to the idea. A St James's Palace spokesman said: (They) are grateful for the Prime Minister's comments.

'They also support the idea of a bank holiday but recognise this is very much a matter for the government.'

Reacting to speculation about a frugal service, a spokesman said: 'Prince William and Kate Middleton have given strong direction that they would like to strike a balance on the wedding day.

'They would like to have an enjoyable and accessible occasion for everyone, but are also mindful of the current economic situation.'

Royal Wedding Invitations have been sent out

Guess who just got one --and not one of the counterfeit ones either!

An invitation card for the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton Read more: http://newsfeed.time.com/2011/03/01/gasp-common-people-to-be-invited-to-royal-wedding/#ixzz1FmTO2WL3

Catherine, the future Queen of England, isn't neglecting her common beginnings, because she has been extending some precious invites to the royal wedding to the likes of local grocers, the postman and even the pub landlord near to her home of Bucklebury.

Hash Shingadia and his wife got an invite and are speechless (almost). In possibly the quote of the year he said that, "When my wife saw the envelope with the EIIR sign on the front, she screamed. It's tremendous news, a total surprise. We were overjoyed."

There's something truly "British" about the way Wills and Kate are going about their wedding invitations.

U.S. President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle? Not a hope.

But the local pub landlord? SURE!

But some Celebrities are allowed after all!

Another guest who actually thought he might miss out on an invite is Elton John. Despite his closeness to Princess Di he thought that his fame and history would not guarantee him attendance at the wedding, but he is happy to finally announce that he did get his after all!

In an earlier interview he commented: "I think because of my relationship with Princess Diana, people automatically think I'm going to be invited," John said, adding that he doesn't actually know Prince William very well. "I'm not invited to the wedding. I would not expect to be invited to the wedding." So I think he must be pretty chuffed that the invitation came at last!

In relation to my survey here about the choice of William to give Catherine his Mother's engagement ring, it appears that Elton John had his doubts too about the appropriateness:

In an interview he seemed to disapprove of William's decision to give Kate his mother's sapphire engagement ring. "It is none of my business," he said when asked, "but I thought it was a little odd."

Royal Wedding - Counterfeit Invitation Warning!

A man has approached the London media, claiming that he works for Barnard and Westwood, the printing firm that created the invitations, saying he has blank invitations to sell, and claiming he could supply several more.

Apparently they are almost identical to an authentic invitation, just missing a couple of dotted lines where the name of the guest would normally be handwritten.

Would be interesting to see if anyone actually manages to crash the wedding!

The Queen is NOT Amused!

Get the latest updates on Wedding Plans for Prince William and Kate:

It has been reported that Queen Elizabeth is not impressed with the new specifications of the royal wedding plan that Prince William released on his own, before getting it cleared first by the Queen.

1) Upon hearing that Kate would arrive at the Abbey in a motor car instead of a traditional royal wedding carriage, Queen Elizabeth supposedly asked William if he intended to "pedal to the wedding" on a bike!

It appears that using a car is his attempt at cost saving, but only angered the queen, since the carriages are on duty that day anyway it does not save much money, but will be guaranteed to deeply disappoint the public waiting on the wedding route to the Abbey hoping to see a "princess in a horse drawn carriage"

The Queen is reported to have called Prince William as soon as she got the news of his wedding plans and asked him "At what point are you going to stop being trendy and start being realistic?"

2) After the 11 am service at the Abbey, the couple will go onto a Wedding Breakfast reception buffet at Buckingham Palace, hosted by the Queen for a large group of celebrity and charitable organization guests. It is rumored that she is not a great fan of Buffet style entertaining in general, so this did not impress her much either.

3) Then later in the night Prince Charles will host a private dinner party and dance for the couple, with around 300 of their closest family and friends.

Since the Queen has over 60 years of experience in planning Royal events, and as she is paying for most of the royal wedding costs, it seems more suitable to have the wedding planning over to the Queen and Buckingham Palace.

Give Wedding Gifts - or - Make a Donation to Charity?

The couple are deciding just this question, so what do you think?

Prince William and Kate are obviously trying to set new trends in royal weddings, with decisions such as arriving for the ceremony in cars instead of the royal carriages, but now they are also looking at opting to request that instead of investing in wedding gifts, people could instead make donations to charities in their name.

A spokesman confirmed that the Prince and Middleton have been weighing the option, "It is something they are considering but no decision has been made yet."

It is a great philanthropic gesture without a doubt, but do you think it is appropriate, or just too far removed from tradition for your tastes?

Who Will Be Prince William's Best Man?

It's Been Announced! Kate's sister Pippa will act as her Maid of Honor, with Prince Harry standing up as Best Man!

Prince Harry made a truly handsome Best Man in his uniform!Prince Harry has formally been announced for the role of best man at Prince William and Kate Middleton's wedding.

In the past, Royal protocol meant that William would normally have what is referred to as a 'supporter' rather than a best man, but he has decided NOT to follow tradition by having Prince Harry as his "Best Man" instead.

Prince Charles had both Andrew and Edward as his "supporters" at his marriage to Princess Diana in 1981 and Prince Andrew had his brother Edward as his "supporter" at the wedding in 1986.

My guess is that Prince Harry just decided that he does not need to "BE SUPPORTED" at his own wedding, as he is confident of his choice of Bride and can stand on his own two feet during the service - lol!

Harry is well qualified to be a 'best man'. The princes speak almost every day and have remained best friends, despite the pressures created by their mother's death in 1997 and their busy lives in the military.

Comments from online readers and bloggers from the minute the wedding was announced, suggest that Prince Harry is definitely a hot favourite for the job, and seeing them both in full uniform would be a treat for the occasion.

Princess Diana would have loved to see that!

What Should Prince William Give as His Groomsman's Gifts?

The most popular Groomsman's Gifts online appear to be various flasks, silver or pewter.

So Who Will Design Kate's Wedding Gown?

Phillipa Lepley bridal dresses simple and elegant designsThere is no shortage of designers to the stars who would line up to design this dress. But it is limited to UK designers I think, as it would seem highly unlikely that a non-British designer would be commissioned for the royal wedding.

Will be interesting to see who finally gets the project! Any ideas on the type of design Kate will commission?

She certainly has her own style, very classic, very minimal, loves her wrap around dresses.

Kate certainly has a slinky narrow hipped body for long and lean styles rather than the usual pavlova bouffant wedding dresses we expect to see at royal weddings.

Maybe this Royal Bride will really change the style of bridal gowns for her generation!

#1 ) UK designer to the stars Phillipa Lepley has currently emerged as a hot favourite to design the Royal wedding dress. Mrs Lepley, 41, opened her first bridal shop in 1990 in Chelsea after graduating from fashion college.

You & Your Wedding magazine said of her 2011 bridal collection: 'Romantic flowers, majestic ballgowns and twinkly vintage lace - Phillipa Lepley's newest looks are a picture of a feminine beauty.'

#2 ) Next, Daniella Issa Helayel was the second favourite of the moment. She specializes in slinky wrap dresses (which Kate favours in her day wear) and her celebrity following includes Jennifer Lopez, Kylie Minogue, Madonna and Scarlett Johansson.

The West London designer has recently started making bespoke dresses for style-conscious Miss Middleton under her fashion label and the bride-to-be has become an unofficial ambassador for the brand.

#3) Princess Diana's own wedding dress designer Elizabeth Emanuel has also been given an honorable mention on the list of hot favourites.

**Surprise!**

The dress was designed by Sarah Burton of the Alexander McQueen label!

See the pictures below at the end of the page, the dress was stunning - very Grace Kelly style.

Here is a classic bride dress - what do you think?

Any modern bride would be delighted with the wedding dresses that can be bought online nowadays.

I remember traipsing around the city for one whole day to select my wedding gown! My mother and my Matron of Honour were so excited about going shopping for the bridal dress, but I had no patience for spending weeks or months for this task.

One day was all I could tolerate before I selected a slinky dress with a wide overlay long train. Then a perky hat with a short veil topped off the look. Modern but classical at the same time, and not like a meringue at all, thank goodness!

Which Church will Hold the Royal Wedding of the Decade?

It's official! The ceremony will be held at Westminster Abbey!

No one will be disappointed with the official choice of Westminster Abbey for the royal wedding!

Westminster Abbey, has more than 1,000 years of history, most of it blue-blooded.

Benedictine monks first came to the Abbey in the middle of the tenth century, establishing a tradition of daily worship which continues to this day.

The Abbey has been the coronation church since 1066 and is the final resting place of seventeen monarchs.

The present church, begun by Henry III in 1245, is one of the most important Gothic buildings in the country, with the medieval shrine of an Anglo-Saxon saint still at its heart.

A treasure house of paintings, stained glass, pavements, textiles and other artefacts, Westminster Abbey is also the place where some of the most significant people in the nation's history are buried or commemorated. Taken as a whole the tombs and memorials comprise the most significant single collection of monumental sculpture anywhere in the United Kingdom.

The Library and Muniment Room houses the important (and growing) collections of archives, printed books and manuscripts belonging to the Dean and Chapter of Westminster, providing a centre for their study and for research into all aspects of the Abbey's long and varied history.

Kings, queens, statesmen and soldiers; poets, priests, heroes and villains - the Abbey is a must-see living pageant of British history.

Royal Wedding 2011 Schedule:

Guests will arrive first and be seated before the Queen and Prince Phillip arrive and are seated.

In this modern era of social networking and Twitter-ing, it is expected that the order of service will remind guests to turn off their mobile phones before the ceremony begins.

The royal wedding ceremony is scheduled as being set for one hour duration.

The Bride will arrive at the Abbey in a Rolls-Royce Phantom, and leave as a royal with Prince William in the Carriage used by Prince Charles and Di after their wedding.

During the wedding ceremony two Choirs, an orchestra and two fanfare teams will perform.

Featuring:

The London Chamber Orchestra

Choirs:

Choir of Westminster Abbey

Chapel Royal Choir

Fanfare Teams from:

Central Band of the Royal Air Force

State Trumpeters of the Household Cavalry

Did You Know?
The Abbey receives no regular funding from Crown, Church or State so entry fees and donations help maintain this historic building.

* The Abbey was founded in 604 on Thorney Island on the north shore of the Thames. In time, the channel between island and bank was filled in.

* The oak Coronation Chair, built in 1301, resides in the Abbey.

* Seventeen monarchs are buried there, among them Edward III and Elizabeth I.

* The bulk of the Abbey you'll see on TV was built by Henry III in the 13th century. The plain stone building you see now was a riot of colour back then - golden arches over red, blue and green hollows, with plain surfaces painted in red.

* It is a Royal Peculiar, a place of worship under the jurisdiction of the Queen, rather than a bishop.

* The oldest door in Britain can be found in the cloisters, made from a tree cut down between 1032 and 1064 AD.

* Coronation Chicken, the creamy, curried chicken dish, was invented for the Queen's coronation at Westminster Abbey in 1953.

There have been many Royal Weddings in the Abbey, including more recently::

The Queen married Prince Philip at the Abbey on November 20, 1947.

Prince William's great-grandmother, the Queen Mother, married the Duke of York in the Abbey on April 26, 1923.

And, oh dear, Prince Andrew married Sarah Ferguson there in 1986.

About the Royal Wedding Reception and Venue:

First the Queen's Buffet Luncheon Reception:

Buckingham Palace will be the venue for the wedding reception with guests from the 'public' rather than intimate family and friends.

On the walls of the Palace guests will be enjoying views of all the old Masters brought out from the royal vaults to honour the couple. It will be decorated in the most opulent style, to delight and impress royal guests.

The Queen's luncheon reception will have 900 guests served by 60 staff catering to their needs.

The Queen's Head Chef Mark Flanagan will have 21 chefs and three pastry chefs preparing the catering.

Guests will be served canapes and champagne upon arrival, but the royal couple intend to only drink soft drinks apart from a sip of champagne during toasts.

For entertainment Prince Charles' official harpist Claire Jones will perform for guests.

It is scheduled for the Royal Couple to appear on Buckingham Palace balcony to greet members of public waiting at the Palace, and it is suggested that they will kiss.

This is also the time when Air Force jets are scheduled to do a fly-over of the Palace.

They will then move on to the more intimate reception dinner hosted for family and personal friends.

Reception details for the more intimate dinner hosted for the wedding couple by Prince Charles:

The same 60 staff will serve these 300 guests as catered the earlier luncheon. The kitchens will be using a large amount of produce direct from the Queen's gardens and estates for both receptions.

Prince Harry will be making his best man's speech here and is sure to stir the pot and poke some fun at Prince William.

A royal source has been reported as saying: "Harry has joked that his brother plods about in a Sea King, while he flies and Apache - but by getting married, the tortoise Will has won the race" (... from Hare Harry)

Music for dancing after the 'intimate' dinner reception will feature a lot of 80's music including ABBA, Spandau Ballet, Duran Duran and Culture Club.

I guess they are having a nostalgic revival nowadays, as well as being Princess Di favouties (the ABBA fan is Catherine though).

Prince William Wedding Cake Recipe

You WILL NOT believe his choice of Groom's wedding cake!

Catherine's royal wedding cake being prepared!I suspect that everyone was caught by surprise at the choice Prince William made for his and Kate's wedding reception.

Catherine (aka Kate) has of course chosen the traditional classic fruit cake in multiple tiers and flower encrusted. No surprises there.

But Prince William has decided to offer comfort food from his nursery days, and has insisted on a no-bake chocolate crunch cake made with plain biscuits and cocoa. Much like the recipe we often use at Christmas as a base for rum balls or simple coconut coated chocolate balls.

Chefs at the *McVities biscuit company will be using around 1700 digestive biscuits and at least 18 kilos of dark chocolate in this 'death by chocolate' concoction.

You can see the recipe in the next module below for the Price William "Crunch Cake"....

Kate's Wedding Cake:

Kate has been active in the design and creation of her traditional fruit cake.

It will have multiple tiers, of course, and will be decorated by Fiona Cairns who has 25 years cake decorating experience and supplies cakes to Harrods and Selfridges.

The Wedding Cake will have white icing with a floral theme that features the symbols of the British nations: Rose for England, Thistle for Scotland, Daffodil for Wales, and a Shamrock for Ireland.

Sounds as elegant and understated as the lady herself. Can't wait to see the pictures of the cake and of course, to finally see her choice of wedding dress!

Royal Wedding Procession:

They are sticking to the traditional route.

It will take her along the Mall, across Horse Guards Parade and then travel down Whitehall and further into Parliament Square.

Once the wedding ceremony is over five horse-drawn carriages till take the couple along the procession to Buckingham Palace.

The couple's carriage will be the State Landou built in 1902 that also carried DIana and Charles after their 1981 wedding.

In order of appearance will be Carriage #2 and #3 with Harry as the best man, Maid of honor Pippa Middleton and the Bridesmaids: Lady Louise Windsor 7, Margarita Armstrong-Jones 8, Eliza Lopes 3 and Grace Van Cutsem 3.

In Carriage #4 in the procession will be the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh.

In Carriage #5 will be Prince Charles, Camilla and Catherine's parents.

The Bishop of London's Sermon

29th April 2011

Be who God meant you to be and you will set the world on fire." So said St Catherine of Siena whose festival day it is today. Marriage is intended to be a way in which man and woman help each other to become what God meant each one to be, their deepest and truest selves.

Many are full of fear for the future of the prospects of our world but the message of the celebrations in this country and far beyond its shores is the right one - this is a joyful day! It is good that people in every continent are able to share in these celebrations because this is, as every wedding day should be, a day of hope.

In a sense every wedding is a royal wedding with the bride and the groom as king and queen of creation, making a new life together so that life can flow through them into the future.

William and Catherine, you have chosen to be married in the sight of a generous God who so loved the world that he gave himself to us in the person of Jesus Christ.

And in the Spirit of this generous God, husband and wife are to give themselves to each another.

A spiritual life grows as love finds its centre beyond ourselves. Faithful and committed relationships offer a door into the mystery of spiritual life in which we discover this; the more we give of self, the richer we become in soul; the more we go beyond ourselves in love, the more we become our true selves and our spiritual beauty is more fully revealed. In marriage we are seeking to bring one another into fuller life.

It is of course very hard to wean ourselves away from self-centredness. And people can dream of doing such a thing but the hope should be fulfilled it is necessary a solemn decision that, whatever the difficulties, we are committed to the way of generous love.

You have both made your decision today - "I will" - and by making this new relationship, you have aligned yourselves with what we believe is the way in which life is spiritually evolving, and which will lead to a creative future for the human race.

We stand looking forward to a century which is full of promise and full of peril. Human beings are confronting the question of how to use wisely a power that has been given to us through the discoveries of the last century. We shall not be converted to the promise of the future by more knowledge, but rather by an increase of loving wisdom and reverence, for life, for the earth and for one another.

Marriage should transform, as husband and wife make one another their work of art. It is possible to transform as long as we do not harbour ambitions to reform our partner. There must be no coercion if the Spirit is to flow; each must give the other space and freedom. Chaucer, the London poet, sums it up in a pithy phrase:

"Whan maistrie [mastery] comth, the God of Love anon,

Beteth his wynges, and farewell, he is gon."

As the reality of God has faded from so many lives in the West, there has been a corresponding inflation of expectations that personal relations alone will supply meaning and happiness in life. This is to load our partner with too great a burden. We are all incomplete: we all need the love which is secure, rather than oppressive, we need mutual forgiveness, to thrive.

As we move towards our partner in love, following the example of Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit is quickened within us and can increasingly fill our lives with light. This leads to a family life which offers the best conditions in which the next generation can practise and exchange those gifts which can overcome fear and division and incubate the coming world of the Spirit, whose fruits are love and joy and peace.

I pray that all of us present and the many millions watching this ceremony and sharing in your joy today, will do everything in our power to support and uphold you in your new life. And I pray that God will bless you in the way of life that you have chosen, that way which is expressed in the prayer that you have composed together in preparation for this day:

God our Father, we thank you for our families; for the love that we share and for the joy of our marriage.

In the busyness of each day keep our eyes fixed on what is real and important in life and help us to be generous with our time and love and energy.

Strengthened by our union help us to serve and comfort those who suffer. We ask this in the Spirit of Jesus Christ. Amen.

The casual newlyweds leave the next morning - but NOT to begin their Honeymoon ...

Apparently the Honeymoon will be delayed for a week while the Prince returns to work!

"The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have chosen not to depart for a honeymoon immediately," a spokesman said.

"Instead, after spending the weekend privately in the United Kingdom, the Duke will return to work as a search-and-rescue pilot next week.

"The locations of both their private weekend before the Duke returns to work and their future honeymoon, which will be overseas, will not be disclosed in advance."

Any Idea Where Prince William and Kate Will Honeymoon?

Catherine has an impressive bikini body for a tropical honeymoon destination! The newly engaged pair are even said to be considering having their honeymoon in Kenya at the rustic Rutundu hut that Prince William proposed to Kate.

Accessible only by air, horseback, or via a 15km walk from the nearest road, the estate is a favourite hideaway for the Prince, who first visited it two years ago.

Surrounded by elephant, hyena, buffalo and leopard, the isolated spot is also famed for its trout fishing at both Lake Rutundu and Lake Alice.

A source said: 'Short of being inside the SAS's base at Hereford, this is the safest place in the world for William.

'It is the one place he can be himself. And he does not have to be guarded because the wildlife there are his guardians.'

With the impressive bikini body that Catherine obviously has, I'm sure that William will appreciate a tropical Honeymoon destination!

Lizard Island in Australia? *Nope!*

Whate are the Odds on these possible Honeymoon Destinations? (zero!)

Well, Australia missed out on being the honeymoon destination -Darnit!

On Monday, the newlyweds were spotted leaving their rented house in Anglesey, Wales, with loads of luggage.

"They have left for their honeymoon," a spokesman for William's office said, adding that they went "earlier this week".

On their destination, St James's Palace will only say that it is "abroad".

"We are not confirming and we are not commenting on speculation on where they may be going on their private honeymoon. We are just confirming that they have gone," the spokesman said.

"The couple have asked that their privacy be respected during their honeymoon."

The palace says the prince has taken two weeks leave from his duties in the Royal Air Force, but would not specify how much of that time will be spent on his honeymoon.

It has been a busy ten days since the wedding took place as William returned to work as a helicopter search and rescue pilot and happened to rescue a hiker who suffered a heart attack!

Prince William and Catherine have apparently hired a $3.2 million yacht for their 10 day honeymoon tour of The Seychelles, including a cruise of old pirate hideouts Praslin and La Digue.

This leaves no doubt at all that Kate's fierce bikini body will get a good workout on the honeymoon as she will no doubt be enjoying some sun-baking on the deck of the yacht. Last time she did this the world got photos (you can see one in the module above) to show what has impressed William so much - lol!

The yacht "Sea Stream" costs over $40,000 a week to hire, and it is capable of top speeds @ 40mph.

This is the second visit by William and Kate to The Seychelles, as the pair also enjoyed a week-long holiday there in August 2007.

It is also reported that the couple will spend their honeymoon staying in a pricey - and very private - island resort, complete with personal butlers and chefs.

The two are also traveling in June to conduct an official tour of Canada. There is more info about this tour below this module. The trip will also include a short stop in California, which will be Kate's first visit to the U.S.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Honeymoon Destination Guides Online:

In spite of the suggestion so far that they may choose to honeymoon in Africa again, maybe they should consider some slightly more comfortable honeymoon destinations, and maybe even include some comfort and luxury for poor Kate.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great overview... good starting place for trip-planning
By K. Justice "kellyjustice" (Meridian, Mississippi United States)

This book has provided me with a fantastic starting point for honeymoon-planning... As someone who has had a fairly extensive and diversified travel "portfolio", I have found this book to be very helpful in providing me with ideas for new and exotic places to visit.

It's not packed with too much information, but gives enough of an overview to let you know whether you would like to pursue more details or if the hotel is not quite what you are looking for...

One drawback: not a great book if you are looking for a low-budget vacation, as most of the hotels included in it are quite pricey... If you are looking for a more economical vacation, I would recommend something like "Hip Hotels: Budget".

(I don't think that the budget would be a worry to Wills & Kate though!)

Royal Mint releases coin to commemorate William and Kate's engagement ...

And (Oh Dear!) Its just AWFUL!!

Released by the Royal Mint today to mark the engagement, the first ever struck to mark a 'royal engagement', the Alderney coin has a denomination of £5 and comes in its own presentation folder. Her Majesty's profile, a portrait by Ian Rank-Broadley, appears on the reverse.

Their heads are surrounded by a script reading: 'Celebrating the engagement of William and Catherine'.

The coin was designed by Royal Mint's head of design Matthew Bonaccorsi, but it just does not look like them much at all, and has drawn howls of protests!

It seems as though Kate's lips have become a 'trout pout' from an attempt at thickening her upper lip, along with a bulldog thick neck, and a really strange wide flat nose. And although the Prince is portrayed in a cut-off partial profile, and hides his thinning hair, he appears to have an adam's apple that is just huge!

Seriously, if you didn't already know who it is supposed to look like, would you have been able to guess who these two people are supposed to be pictures of?

Just 50,000 of the commemorative coins will be for sale in the special presentation folders, and just 100,000 will ever be minted. Probably a good thing too!

"Public interest in this great event is already huge, and building every day, so we are anticipating massive demand for these official commemorative coins," the Royal Mint said on its website.

This new coin design shows the royal couple in profile and has been approved by William, Queen Elizabeth and the government.

William and Kate Tea Bags for Souveniers?

The Germans get revenge on Britain with a tea bag?

It would have to be the ultimate symbol to represent the British - "have a cuppa cha" resonates around the world, especially in India, when Queen Victoria was also titled the Empress of India, and England became addicted to its daily cup of tea.

Now a Hamburg company is selling limited edition "KaTEA" tea bags that feature a cartoon image of either Prince William or Catherine Middleton at the top, and are complete with arms that hang across the rim of your cup to stop the bag completely falling into your cup.

To really rub in their revenge, the Germans even filled the bags with German tea instead of a noble Lady or Earl Grey - Oh my Gosh!!

How will we keep these used souvenirs for posterity? Maybe just scrapbook the paper figures... Any crafty ideas? Or suggestions for how to get back on the wicked Germans?

Prince William and Kate Wedding really was a Fairy Tale story

It just goes to show that the Prince William and Kate Wedding really was a Fairy Tale story - lol!

Even the Sisters are a great match!

What Happens After Prince William Marries Kate?

Recently, Prince William has completed his helicopter pilot training and is a search and rescue pilot for the Royal Air Force stationed in north Wales.

The couple will live near William's base after the wedding, according to the royal statement.

So Catherine will be able to live a reasonably 'normal' life as a new wife, for a while at least, if they stick to this plan.

This will give the young couple time and privacy to begin married life without the demands of daily royal duties and non-stop media scrutiny.

I think that the fact the couple will by the wedding have had over 9 years to get to know each other, and 'practice' their married life should mean there would be very few surprises or nasty bumps along this road.

It has surprised everyone to hear that after the wedding the couple do not plan to take on any royal Butlers or other household staff!!

With the lifestyle these two will be living, even in this reasonably 'private' role, I doubt this plan will fly for very long!

Titles announced for Prince William and Catherine Middleton

The Queen has today been pleased to confer a Dukedom on Prince William of Wales.

His titles will be Duke of Cambridge, Earl of Strathearn and Baron Carrickfergus.

Prince William thus becomes His Royal Highness The Duke of Cambridge and Miss Catherine Middleton on marriage will become Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge.

Background:

DUKEDOM: Cambridge:

In 1706 George Augustus (subsequently George II) the only son of George Ludwig, Elector of Hanover (subsequently George I of Great Britain) was created with other titles Duke of Cambridge. On the accession of his father to the throne in 1714 he also became Duke of Cornwall and was created Prince of Wales. On his own accession to the throne in 1727 the Dukedom of Cambridge merged with The Crown and ceased.

Cambridge was previously a Royal Dukedom and four sons of James, Duke of York (afterwards James II) who died in infancy were all created Duke of Cambridge. As an Earldom Cambridge was a medieval Royal title. Edward IV was Duke of York and Earl of Cambridge till proclaimed King of England in 1461 when his titles merged with The Crown.

His father and grandfather both Richard Plantagenet were both Earls of Cambridge and the latter was also Duke of York. Edmund of Langley, 5th son of Edward III and great-grandfather of Edward IV, was created Earl of Cambridge in 1362 and Duke of York in 1385.

The Dukedom of Cambridge created in 1801 became extinct on the death of the 2nd Duke of Cambridge in 1904. Cambridge existed as a Marquessate from 1917 when it was conferred on Queen Mary's brother till 1981 when the 2nd Marquess died and the title became extinct.

EARLDOM: Strathearn

Strathearn has had Royal connections since Robert Stewart, High Steward of Scotland, was created Earl of Strathearn in 1357. In 1371 he succeeded his Uncle as King of Scotland becoming Robert II and the Earldom merged with The Crown Robert II created his 5th son David, Earl of Strathearn in 1371. Subsequently in 1427 the 6th son of Robert II was created Earl of Strathearn.

In 1766 George III's younger brother Prince Henry Frederick was created Duke of Cumberland and Strathearn. He died without issue in 1790 and in 1799 Queen Victoria's father was created Duke of Kent and Strathearn. These Dukedoms became extinct on his death in 1820.

Finally, Prince Arthur William Patrick Albert, 3rd son of Queen Victoria was created Duke of Connaught and Strathearn in 1874. He died in 1942 and was succeeded by his grandson who died the following year 1943 since when Strathearn as a title has been extinct.

BARONY: Carrickfergus:

An Irish Viscountcy of Chichester of Carrickfergus now held by the Marquess of Donegall was created in 1625 but Carrickfergus alone only existed as a title between 1841 and 1883. The 3rd Marquess of Donegall was created Baron Ennishowen and Carrickfergus, of Ennishowen, co: Donegal and Carrickfergus, co: Antrim. He died in 1883 being succeeded by his brother and the Barony became extinct.

Carrickfergus is County Antrim's oldest town. The word means Rock of Fergus andas an urban settlement it predates Belfast. It is on the north shore of Belfast Lough and is the site of Carrickfergus Castle which dates from circa 1180 and is one of the best preserved Castles in Ireland.

Prince William and Catherine will Visit Canada after the wedding!

The Palace has announced that "Prince William and Miss Catherine Middleton have accepted an invitation from the government of Canada to undertake a Royal Tour".

The newlyweds first royal tour of the nation will include: Alberta, the Northwest Territories, Prince Edward Island and Ottawa.

Princes William, Harry and their father Charles already visited Canada in 1998 when Prince William caused an international sensation with his handsome teenage good looks!

Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper made the formal comment:

"Canada looks forward to welcoming the young couple this summer and providing them with all that our country has to offer - including, of course, the special hospitality and warmth reserved for members of the Royal Family.

It is my sincere hope that their tour will be the start of a lasting relationship with Canada by the royal couple."

The trip for the newlyweds will begin on June 30 and continue through to July 8th. They will also be there in time to help the nation to celebrate Canada Day on July 1st.

Canada loves the royals, so the couple should have a very successful start to their future as royals on tour!

Will Little Princes and Princesses Be on Top of Katherine's "To Do" List?

William is second in line to the British throne after Charles, his father. Kate and William's first child would move ahead of his younger brother Prince Harry to become third in line to the throne.

Since Katherine has no plans to continue a career after the wedding, it is safe to assume that there will be no hindrance to her becoming a mother as soon as possible. And as she is already 29 years old there really is not all that much time for her to have safe and simple pregnancies without the concerns that women in their late thirties and early forties need to be concerned about.

There are no plans at the moment for Katherine to become a full-time Royal on the tour schedule. Her only official duties - including opening ceremonies and attending charity events - will be on the arm of her RAF pilot husband in the immediate future.

A spokesman said last night: 'Prince William wants to initiate her properly into the job, so at first she will not undertake any solo engagements.
If Miss Middleton is free before the wedding, she may join the prince on engagements but that decision will be taken on a case-by-case basis.'

The decision prompts speculation the couple will try to have a child as soon as possible.
Diana was just 21 when she gave birth to William in 1982, and Harry was born three years later.

Prince William and Catherine are already related!

Introducing Catherine:

The formal engagement is likely to turn the poised brunette - already depicted approvingly in the fashion pages - into a global icon.

Catherine Elizabeth "Kate" Middleton (born 9 January 1982) is the fiancée of Prince William of Wales. Since their relationship began, Middleton has received widespread media attention and there has been constant speculation that they would eventually marry.

Kate was born at Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading, Berkshire, the first of three children of Carole Elizabeth (1955-, née Goldsmith) - an air hostess, in 1980 a stewardess - and Michael Francis Middleton (1949-), a flight dispatcher in 1980 and an airline officer in 1982 for British Airways.

Kate has two siblings, Philippa "Pippa" Charlotte and James William. Pippa Middleton, a graduate of the University of Edinburgh, has received press coverage since her sister became famous, with focus on her relationships and lifestyle.

She met Prince William, also studying there, in 2001. They soon started a relationship, media attention quickly followed.

Kate has rarely ever spoken about William in public. "I love the uniform. It's so, so sexy," which was her public assessment at William's graduation from Sandhurst, was a very rare slip of her silence.

With her confident good looks and long brown hair, Middleton has already become one of the most photographed women in Britain.

The palace will be hoping that she combines Diana's glamour and charm with a more commonsense approach to life. At 28, Middleton is considerably older than Diana was when she wed at 20 and has had greater life experiences and longer training in dealing with the media.

Kate loves a man in unform!

Cons of the Wedding?

There are always people who are able to stir the pot and raise the cons as well as the pro's of important events like these.

So these contributions may help us to not take things too seriously!

Is It True That The Royal Princes Have Married Women Who Resemble Their Childhood Nannies?

The pictures are worth a thousand words!

What made Prince William choose Kate Middleton to be his bride?

And why did Prince Charles chose Camilla Parker Bowles over the luminous beauty of Diana?

If you look at this picture it's pretty obvious just why the media might be right in suggesting that the father and son have ended up marrying women who look remarkably like their childhood nannies.

The most influential women in the lives of both William and Charles, with whom they spent much of their formative years would have been their nanny.

In the case of Prince of Wales, it was Mabel Anderson who was the royal nanny.

More recently for Harry and Prince William, the lady in question was Tiggy Legge-Bourke who became their nanny just before the death of Princess Di.

Specialists say that when, later in life, we meet a person with the same 'look' as someone who meant a great deal to us in childhood, it acts as a subconscious visual trigger for our emotions.

So, what of the similarities between Charles' (current) wife and his nanny?

When he first met Camilla Parker Bowles at a polo match in Windsor Great Park, she was 23 years old, exactly the same age that Mabel Anderson was when she looked after the young Prince.

As you can see in the picture here, Camilla and Mabel at a similar age have very similar features. They could almost be twins in that picture!

Author Suzy Malin says that 'prima copulism provides only the initial spark which brings two people together', but she thinks that where it occurs, the man will instinctively trust the woman because she will remind him of a love that goes back to childhood, 'where trust and affection were first learned'.

Personally I think this is a load of rubbish, but I'm also aware that the British upper-class men are notorious for having an over-fondness for their Nannies, and some strange lifetime relationship habits as a result... hmmm... they each do rather look like their man's nannies.

I am fortunate enough to live just 2 miles from Westminster Abbey so will be one of the thousands of spectators who be lining the route on the big day....I already know where I will stand which will give me a great view of Westminster Abbey. If I manage to get close enough to take some photo's of the couple then I shall send you them fingers crossed that I will eh x

Absolutely brilliant. This lens should be published as the official Royal Wedding Programme and I know that it would be cherished by all who buy one for many years...and eventually be worth quite a lot of money as all commemorative Royal Souvenirs do. Excellent to the point of being fit enough for the future King and Queen of England definitely xx
  • scss Feb 15, 2011 @ 1:42 am | delete
*Blush* thank you for such glowing feedback! I'm having fun with this lens, and trying to update it every few days. I have to add the news update today that Prince Harry has been selected the Best Man as we had all hoped. (No more of the traditional "Supporter" for this modern royal Groom)

Wedding footage of Prince Charles and Lady Di

The Bridal Procession of Lady Diana Spencer on the day of her marriage to HRH Prince Charles at St. Paul's Cathedral (1981; edited). The music is the "Trumpet Voluntary" by Jeremiah Clarke (formerly attributed to Henry Purcell)

God I miss her so much! Princess Di will always be treasured by people of her generation, I don't know why she touched us so much, but she did - and I miss her and wish she could still be here.

She got her wish, she will always be the Queen of our Hearts.

ROYAL WEDDING WEBSITE LAUNCHED:

IT'S OFFICIAL Kate is now Catherine!

The official royal wedding website www.officialroyalwedding2011.org was launched to the public this week and it is planned that it will soon begin to feature exclusive content including photos, latest updates and videos according to a statement issued by St. James's Palace.

Among other things, officials promise the site will be "the first place to view information such as the details of Miss Catherine Middleton's wedding dress."

BUT: At the moment it just appears to have a collection of photos that we have already seen elsewhere, and a historical blurb about buildings, so stick to sites like this one for the real hot goss - lol!

ITS OFFICIAL Kate is now Catherine!

In all official announcements, Kate is now being referred to as Catherine by the Palace, so we better all get used to it.... now what rhymes with Catherine???

Did the couple make a trip to pay respects to Princess Di before the wedding?

I don't know if it's true or not, but it's been reported that a week before the wedding Prince William and Catherine visited the island tomb where the prince's mother is buried on the 14,000-acre Althorp Estate in Northamptonshire, and walked hand-in-hand to place flowers at the grave of Princess Diana.

A very nice thought if it's true. I'm certain that she would have approved of this marriage, and the way Catherine has had years to prepare herself for the HRH role, unlike Diana who was thrown into the fray and had to work it all out pretty much on her own.

I think Diana's ring is lovely and I can understand why he would choose it, it was a designed she loved and picked out and it would be like a small piece of her is there. BUT it is a token from a wedding that didn't last so I think he should have designed a ring for her.
  • scss Feb 14, 2011 @ 2:28 am | delete
Thanks for dropping by and leaving your feedback on the choice of engagement ring! I agree with you, its gorgeous, and a lovely reminder of Princess Di, but I would consider it to have sad associations.
Maybe it would have been a perfect gift for Kate to help commemorate Di and include her in the marriage, and just given to her with a new engagement ring of her own.
