It's not easy being a princess, especially if you're a fretful perfectionist like Atta, and especially if grasshoppers are extorting your colony for food.

Three reasons to love Princess Atta
She's a perfectionist. Atta wants to be a good queen and do right by the colony. Unfortunately her high standards lead to a low self-image.
She pitches in. Instead of just watching by the sidelines while the colony builds the bird, Atta plays an active role and lends a hand as needed.
She grows. In the beginning she turns to her mother and the council ants for advice and reassurance. Over the course of the film, she becomes more confident in herself. She also softens towards Flik, learns to see him in a different light, and apologizes for treating him poorly.
