Princess Costumes

...there was a kind young girl called Mary, who lived in a small village on an island. She lived with her mother and father, and her two older sisters and older brother. 

Mary grew up and became a lovely young woman, but Mary's mother had been ill for a long time. Doctors tried to help her fight the illness, but eventually Mary's mother died.

After her mother's death, Mary decided to leave her little village on the island and travel over the oceans to see the world. When she returned to her country, she realised she didn't want to live in the small village anymore, so she moved to a big city on a neighbouring island. 

After a while, Mary's father decided to remarry, and told Mary and her sisters that they would soon have a step-mother. Mary and her brother and sisters didn't spend much time with their new step-mother, because they were growing up and living their own lives.

One day Mary heard about a huge festival that would be arriving in a distant city. There would be games and sports and anyone who was anyone would be seen at the festival. Mary decided to travel to the city to see the spectacle. 

The festival was a wonderful affair, and there were so many parties to attend. At one of these parties, Mary found herself talking to a charming young man called Frederik. They liked each other immediately, but it wasn't until later that someone told Mary the man she was talking to was a prince!

Prince Frederik lived a long way away, over the vast oceans, in a country where they spoke a different language, and where even the seasons were upside down to what Mary was used to. But Mary and Prince Frederik were in love, and Prince Frederik asked Mary to marry him and become a princess.
