Leia's story

Origianally appearing in the film Star Wars: A New Hope, Princess Leia has been found in countless, books, games and comics.  Leia is one of the first female action heroes.  She shoots big guns and jumps down garbage shoots, and that's just in the first film.

Leia was born to a politician mother and a Jedi father.  She was adopted shortly after birth by the royal family of the planet Alderaan and raised as a princess.  When she was a teenager she became a diplomat for the Galactic Senate.  Covertly, she also joined the insurrectionist Rebel Alliance.  With her diplomatic immunity, Leia was able to get into many places without trouble from the evil Empire.

At 18 Leia was tasked to transport the plans for the Empire's secret weapon to her home planet of Alderaan.  It was on this mission that she was compromised.  The villans Darth Vader and Grand Moff Tarken captured the Princess.  Not before she inserted the plans in a small mechanic droid called R2D2.  While in captivity Leia is forced to watch while Tarkin destroys Alderaan and with it her adopted family, the Royal Family Organa.

The princess was rescued from captivity by Jedi KnightObi Wan Kenobi and his apprentice Luke Skywalker as well as the  smugglers Han Solo and Chewbacca.  While Leia escaped with Luke, Han and Chewbacca, Obi Wan was killed by Darth Vader, his one-time apprentice.

Aboard the Millinium Falcoln, Han Solo's freighter, Leia began to form a deep relationship with the two smugglers and the young Jedi Knight.  She convinced them two join the Rebel Alliance and to fight against the oppression of the Empire.

A few years later Leia discovered that Luke Skywalker was her long lost twin brother and Darth Vader was her father.  This was about the same time she discovered her feelings for Han Solo were more than just friendly.

After the destruction of the Empire and victory by the Rebel Alliance, Leia became a prominent figure of the new government.  She was responsible for much of the formation of the New Republic. 

In addition to being a political mover and shaker, Leia also married Han Solo and started a family.  Her three children: twins named Jaina and Jacen and a younger son named Anakin, all follow in the footsteps of their Grandfather and Uncle Luke and join the ranks of the Jedi Knights.
