    There is documented proof that keeping a food log will double your weight loss success rate. Keeping a food log gives you a sense of being in control, which is known to boost your motivation to persevere as well.

    I've been telling myself I need to keep a food log to track what I am eating. Thanks for helping me find some food journals that will work. Now comes the hard part... doing it.

    I'm a vegetarian and I'm am not always good about getting sufficient protei.n. Logging it helps

    What a lens! I feel a little overwhelmed by all this info. Keeping a log is a great motivational technique and I often recommend it to people who can't stay motivated for weight loss long enough.

    This is a fantastic lens. I know that it is easier for me to stay on top of my eating when I keep a diary. That's actually one of things that is recommended in Body Image Mastery....so this is a perfect resource. Thanks for the GREAT info.

    Oh yes, I do keep a food diary - although it may hurt sometimes when I have to add too many bad things.

    It is good to maintain our health and diet record but we normally follow this important exercise only after feeling some problem. One diet precaution or plan may not be good for another so don't follow the suggested diet plans blindly without concerning dietitian.

    Awesome post, I have personally found that a diary will help immensely in maintaining a healthy lifestyle and beginning healthy eating habits. One of the most important aspects there are in learning a healthy way of life is simply being aware of the dieting, and eating choices you make. Free Online Diet Journals can be a very powerful resource in educating yourself.

    Excellent lens. You can literally eat things and forget later in the day that you ate them - I've done it. I'm keeping a food diary and an exercise diary and posting on them online at http://www.squidoo.com/lensmaster/new_workshop/lose-thirty-pounds as I try to lose 30 pounds by June. Photos will accompany my progress each week, along with my food and exercise diaries. They take the guesswork out of things - if you don't lose the weight you want, it should all be there in black and white for you to see why not! Even if you don't need to lose weight, these diaries are beneficial to check that you're eating what you're supposed to be!

    great lens, im still working on mine but being that mine is also fitness based, i decided to look around honesty it was the picture of the fruit that got me lol im a huge fruit eater lol. i noticed that you have great html on here too. im totally out of my league with html but i use it when i can get it right lol. well thanks for the diet (i got a couple)fee lfree to check out mine and let me know how to improve it. i made my first one yesterday so its kinda rough but please be honest.

    I don't keep a food diary, but I can see where it would be very effective in holding yourself accountable (makes you think twice about second helpings when you have to put it in writing :o) 5* for some very helpful information.

    What a novel idea..great lens I have neber come accross this idea fo a food diary before...
    If you have trouble with yo-yo dieting or are just unable to lose weight plus four reasons why your last diet probably failed!

    Some great resources, thanks :) I have a lens on fat-fighting foods which might be of use to people using this lens as a stepping stone to losing weight. It can be found here.

    Also, its advisable to record your calorie intake for at least 6 weeks so that you can start plotting trends and pick out where you can save on eating unnecessary snacks etc. These food diaries will complement that really well!
