A food pyramid can help you achieve a healthy diet plan but make sure to apply and strictly follow the chart.

I think the food pyramid is a bit limited and outdated, because it doesn't distinguish between whole grains and refined carbs, and in general, it doesn't distinguish between processed foods and whole, natural foods. I also think that it de-emphasizes the need for healthy fats. Eating liberal quantities of healthy fats, like olive oil, fatty fish, nuts, and avocado, is totally different from eating lots of fatty, factory-farmed meat, or the harmful trans-fats. I think it would greatly enrich this lens if you'd talk a bit more about the limitations of the food pyramid. The food pyramid was a good stepping stone in our knowledge of nutrition but I think we need to further modify it or move beyond it.

Drink one glass of water before meals...you will feel full sooner. Avoid anything deep fried and walk 30 minutes a day. This will work and costs you nothing.

More adults need to educate their children about eating healthy. With Type 2 diabetes on the rise, it is increasingly more and more important.
