Printable bookmarks and book plates - what a great idea! I didn't know they existed.
  • Ruthi Apr 10, 2012 @ 6:35 pm | delete
Because I read mostly for information and for book review purposes, I genrally use a folded piece of paper as my bookmark so that I can make notes along my reading journey. I am guilty of laying my books down to an open position, so thanks for the reminder not to do so.
  • Deadicated Apr 2, 2012 @ 11:53 am | delete
Love this Lens well done; I should use Book Plates, maybe my friends would actually return the books they borrow.

  • azD40x Jan 28, 2012 @ 12:08 pm | delete
Great lens! Additional idea for my book cover design clients!
  • CruiseReady Jan 25, 2012 @ 4:51 pm | delete
Nice lens! I would love to have one of those book embossers - how cool are they?
As for bookmarks, I rarely use them. I just remember the page number, and am always surprised that so many other people don't do that.

    A perfect lens!

I love vintage bookplates, this is something I could really collect but try not too (too many collection already)
  • WordWings Oct 11, 2011 @ 2:20 pm | delete
I collect bookmarks, trying for one per book, except the one I choose to read, every time. Then I have to use a receipt or a scrap of paper, even a straw wrapper. My favorite one is the little ribbon attached to lovely books. That one I don't lose. Thanks for this adorable lens.
  • Sylvestermouse Aug 27, 2011 @ 8:46 am | delete
Wonderful compilation of resources for bookmarks and bookplates! These would be awesome to print out and give with each book gift. I can't believe I have never thought to do that before! I love my own bookmarks, some have very special meaning and they serve as a great reminder of the giver.
  • gregoryolney Aug 25, 2011 @ 3:11 am | delete
Nice idea for a lens - I collect leather bookmarks. I've featured your lens on my lens about the Franco-British Exhibition of 1908. Hope you get lots of visitors !

I absolutely KNEW when I opened this page that it HAD to be yours! Absolutely gorgeous!

I used to turn the page corners down to save my place, Now I use bookmarks. I have a large collection of bookmarks. Have never pasted any bookplates into any of my books. Personally I beleive that devalues the books. I too am a huge fan of bibliophile stuff. I have a couple of lenses on antiquarian books & authors. Very Nice Lens. Blessed by the reading lists angel.

As a dressmaker, there are always lots of scraps of fabric around. Cut into bookmark size, fabric pieces make for a colourful bookshelf if you leave at least one in each book.

I have a packet of beautiful Ex Libris bookplates, but I hate to stick things in books as, being a book collector, I think it reduces their value as collectors' items, although if they are not particularly valuable, and not first editions, it probably doesn't matter. I have a collection of several bookmarks, which I always use, as I hate seeing a book laid open and face-down - sacrilege!

Wonderful lens! I usually tear off a chunk of paper from my scrap pile since mine bookmarks always seem to disappear. However, you have some very nice designs I might have to try! Have a Happy and Prosperous New Year!

I am definitely a book person. Received two books for Christmas and a gift certificate to a bookstore. I've also got one book on its way from Amazon. I'm currently reading six. I love Book Plates, though I frequently use a paper clip for a bookmark. Thanks for this page!

Great lens. I love books and often read several different ones at one time. Bookmarks are a must. You have a nice selection.
  • marsha32 Dec 11, 2010 @ 10:49 am | delete
I often print bookmarks (and sell them, use them for gifts, and list them on listia)...I print them on cardstock and then cover them with the laminate. I see familiar websites, plus a lot of new ones. I love the idea of using old greeting card! I hadn't even thought of that!

    Blessed by a Squid Angel

What a fun idea, I can see kids creating bookmarks and book plates with some of these free resources to give as Christmas gifts. The ex libris book plate is wonderful too.

Nice lens. I always use a bookmark and usually find something simple, but when I spot a really cool one I snap it up quick. I always seem to misplace them, but of course if I went through all my old books I would no doubt find quite a collection lol.
  • Laddoo Sep 15, 2010 @ 7:31 am | delete
I love bookmarks. Keep misplacing them though. This is a wonderful lens.
  • martialartstraining Jul 21, 2010 @ 2:06 pm | delete
Wonderful lens, I have always been careful with my books but i have to admit that my usual bookmark is only a receipt or paper scrap.

I need to label new hymnals donated in memory or in honor of loved ones/friends. I am hoping to find printable labels that can be merged with my list of donors and printed on an ink jet printer. Anyone had any experience with such? Ideas welcome.

Nice bookmark & bookplate collections. I normally put on a piece of paper to save a page in a book but seeing the beautiful designs on this lens, I might print a few. Rated 5*

Hope you could visit my lenses and become a fan of my fb page. Thanks
  • Mickie_G Oct 7, 2009 @ 5:30 pm | delete
What a wonderful article! I usually forget and leave a bookmark in the book when I return it to the library! So, your designs would be a wonderful surprise for the next reader!

Lensrolling to my Book Repair lens! Yes, bookmarks would save a spine or two!

Great lens! I'm a librarian and I think I will print out some of these for kids to make at my library. My own kids know that the quickest way to irritate me is to leave their books laying open, face down. Or almost as bad, dog ear the pages.

I have a large collection of r bookmarks myself. Any ideas on displaying booksmarks?
  • Wysiwigs Jun 25, 2009 @ 1:08 pm | delete
What a fun collection of ideas! I use address labels sometimes on books and videos (if I'm in a hurry to lend it :o) otherwise I print my own. Great lens.

Great idea for a lens! I love unique bookmarks.
  • Treasures-By-Brenda May 14, 2009 @ 8:48 pm | delete
My favorite bookmark is one we don't use. One year, we gave all the grandparents bookmarks made simply and in a low-tech fashion. We cut out pictures of our children, stuck them on construction paper and covered them with clear mactac. They were treasured by the Grandparents. Now some of them have come back and I am afraid I might lose them if I actually put them in a book so...I have them on my mirror.

Nicely done lens; blessed by Brenda.
