10 Ways To Customize Your Bingo Game

Take Your Bingo Cards To The Next Level

Printable bingo cards are the quickest and most inexpensive way to keep your games engaging and fun.
  1. Multiple sizes: Look for software that offers the flexibility of 3 x 3, 4 x 4 and 5 x 5 layouts. Some card generators only produce a 5 x 5 version.
  2. Visual design: The best software offers a wide range of text, imagery and text-plus-imagery options. While some images are black and white line drawings (better for printing), others have very detailed color imagery that should be professionally printed to get the full effect.
  3. Number per page: Whether you want to save paper, use different paper sizes, or just create single sheets with multiple boards, we like the option of printing one or more cards per page.
  4. Themes: Today's software offers every theme under the sun. Whether you're interested in Desperate Housewives, the Olympic Games, celebrating a holiday or learning a language, if you can think of it, there's probably a bingo card for it. If not, you can easily create the first one.
  5. Free space: While it may not help your strategy, you have the option to leave the free space off the bingo card.Free space: While it may not help your strategy, you have the option to leave the free space off the bingo card.
  6. Color and font options: You can customize the typeface and color of letters and numbers which can make a big impact. (Printing on colored paper is also a great way to add pizazz).
  7. Word lists: Some products allow you to enter your own list of vocabulary words. While this may be helpful for teachers, some bingo card software make life easy by providing word lists for you to use.
  8. Title: Sick of having "bingo" across the top of all your cards? Create a custom title, usually a five-letter word to use in place of bingo. Think "pizza" or "Jesus."
  9. Printing: We like the ability to print our creations in black and white or color, depending on the printer we're using. We also like to generate a pdf file of our cards and callout sheet that we can save and bring to another location to print and cut.
  10. Language support: Bingo enthusiasts who speak Russian, Chinese, Spanish or other languages will enjoy the language conversion feature in more sophisticated bingo software.

Great reasons to print your own bingo cards

Have more control over your bingo game

1. You only print as much as you need, rather than buying cases of cards that go unused.

4. You can quickly and easily customize them for special occasions, interests and holidays.
5. You can ensure there are no duplicates.
6. You'll get your cards immediately by printing, rather than by waiting for them in the mail.

Tired of the same old bingo?

Try these keyword ideas instead of numbers in each box to spice up your game.

Spend more time playing than planning. Invent new word lists on a variety of fun themes.

Ever heard of movie bingo? Replace the word "bingo" at the top of the card with the word "movie." All words in this game will pertain to movies. For each letter, create a list of actors, actresses, films and directors. You can customize these lists based on the age or knowledge of your players.

How about shopping bingo? If you play bingo with shoppers, compile a list of favorite shops like "Nordstroms," "Saks," or "Macy's," as well as words like "sale" and "coupon."

Everyone loves TV shows. Think back to your favorite TV shows of the last few decades. Title the card "Shows" and include television favorites like Love Boat, Happy Days and Beverly Hills 90210.

What are the advantages of bingo card software?

Some bingo card software solutions are giving the old game a run for its money.

What do you look for in bingo card maker software? First and foremost, it should be quick and easy. There's no reason why you need to wait for custom bingo cards to arrive in the mail. Today you'll find tools for running a bingo hall and generating cards all in one. These will cost far less than replacing a bingo machine or blower. Not surprisingly, we're seeing that bingo software solutions are slowly replacing the big, awkward machines at bingo gatherings.

Because you can have bingo card software stored on your laptop, everything you need is highly portable. For software packages with big, attractive graphics, hook your computer up to a projector and voila, You have a full-size board displaying on the wall. Many software packages work extremely well in a commercial setting such as a bingo hall, but can also be enjoyed at home for family bingo.

Playing Bingo For Charity Is Flourishing!

From an article by Lavinia Castro of the Courier Post Online

"...We noticed we've had some people take time off because of the economy, but for every one person that we lose, we get two more," said John Terruso, captain of the Audubon Park Volunteer Fire Department.

For the past 50 years, the fire department has hosted a weekly bingo night that attracts between 80 and 100 people.

It is the department's biggest fundraiser, bringing in between $900 and $1,100 a week, Terruso said."

The article continues:

"Charitable gambling is an $85 million industry in New Jersey, according to state officials.

The New Jersey Department of Law and Public Safety's Division of Consumer Affairs issues bingo licenses to 1,200 charitable, educational, religious, patriotic and public service organizations statewide.

Most bingo halls get a mix of regulars from the community and folks who simply enjoy the game..."

"This is our main income for the fire department," Terruso said. "It helps us pay the bills and the repairs on the trucks."

Wikipedia On Types of Bingo Cards

Bingo cards are used to play various bingo games, including U.S. style bingo and UK style Housie. Cards are usually made of cardboard or non-reusable paper, but more and more bingo halls are beginning to use computerized cards. Bingo cards are printed in various styles (see below) with randomized bingo numbers. As bingo numbers are called, players either check off the boxes with a pen or marker, or use a bingo daber/dauber to stamp the box.
