Prisoners Dance
Cebu Detention and Rehabilitation Center in the Philippines has instituted a new exercise program that is mandatory for all able body inmates. Not participating leads to loss of privileges such as conjugal visits!
Prison Dance Details
They are led by a choreographer who is accused of mass murder. One of their biggest stars is a transsexual, awaiting trial on methamphetamine dealing charges.Every one of the 1500 prisoners must dance. Sometimes, the dancing fills five hours a day. The warden does no think he is abusing the prisoners' by forcing them to dance so many hours a day. He is convinced his prison is a model for prison authorities everywhere, an example of how to crack the plague of violent prison gangs.
"It makes them work together, it makes them exercise and they learn self-esteem. They no longer feel like lowly criminals. They feel like celebrity criminals."
