Productive Social Networking

It seems like everyday you hear someone else talking about how they are going to show you how to use social networks as a way to build your business. The problem is to many people got the wrong idea , now there are thousands of people spamming their business online.

Lets talk about what a social network is. Social networks are a place for people of like mind to share ideas, thoughts and make friends. They are a social gathering. People are not interested in your business opportunity, people are interested in meeting interesting people.

IF you are serious about using a social network to help you get leads for your business I recommend the following.

First always add a profile picture. So many people join social networks and they don't add pictures. People like pictures, I pass by profiles if a person hasn't taken the time to at the very least put up a profile picture or avatar.

Second - Your about me is very important. Write as if you where talking to the person face to face. You want to make a connection with the person. Always use words like me, I, You etc...

Third - Don't sell your business. It is always your goal to build your email list. If you don't have a email list start making one. Offer free reports, create membership sites , create social communities. You goal is to get the person interested in you.

Fourth - The fastest way to get your prospects calling you is by adding a phone number to your profile. At the very least use skype and add your skype ID

Fifth - Make sure to make youtube videos that you can attach to your social networking page. This is a fantastic way to brand yourself online and its another way for you to gain trust and credibility with your readers.

You should visit every member of a community and make friends with them. The more friends you make the more people that will look at your profile.

If you want to truly be effective , don't add links to your business opportunity , if you put your business opportunity link in your profile you loose out on precious back links. The more back links you have the higher up search engines will place your website,blog etc....
